Castlebar, with close to 20,000 people, is the county town of Mayo and home to a vibrant pub scene. Popular as a market town, Castlebar also offers the quaint Museum of Country Life. Other points of interest in Mayo include the sea cliffs and peat bogs of Achill Island, Ashford Castle and Rockfleet Castle, a tower house in the town of Newport.
