Ennis however, is a good place to start. With a fairly diminutive population of just under 25,000 people, the town nonetheless dwarfs every other in Clare. Primary attractions include the 13th century Ennis Friary and Cathedral of St. Peter and St. Paul. Bunratty Castle, in tiny Bunratty village, is not far from Shannon and features a traditional folk park and 19th century period village. The Cliffs of Moher are must-see in Clare, with spectacular views of the Aran Islands, Galway Bay and the Connemara hills. Nearby, the coastal village of Doolin offers a veritable slice of traditional Ireland.
