Excellent situation on Malioboro but set back from the road so its fairly quiet. Rooms are largish but work and some dirty corners but nothing that you cant ignore. Staff are friendly and helpful. Not much to choose from a 'western' breakfast- bring your own musli!

The room was dirty but the location was fantastic. It was located at the main street of this city and was just a few minutes walk to the shopping mall. The palace was around 20 minutes walk in distance all the way up to the pole of the street but highly recommended to take a cab if you wanted to avoid walking under fierce sun. The outlook of the hotel was built in colonial style and worthwhile taking some photos. A very bad experience was that my father and wife was got caught in the hotel lift while I was out the hotel entrance in the airline counter to reconfirm the seats. I was told it took almost 5 minutes then somebody in the hotel got to know the lift was out of order and rescued them. The facilities needed extensive renovation to remain attractive. Not recommended for the time being.

My wife and I are former long-term residents of Indonesia, living in Yogyakarta for almost a year before moving to Jakarta where we spent four years. However, Yogya remains our favourite city. We made the right choice when we selected this hotel for a four-day stay. The room rate was excellent compared with other city hotels and it's hard to beat the central location. The pool, choice of restaurants, friendly service and Internet access all added up to a very pleasant stay.
