Visit Pulau Kembang to see the long-tailed macaques at the decrepit Chinese temple. Purchase nuts in advance to feed them, and do not tease them with your own food. Alternatively, take a trip to Pulau Kaget and see the proboscis monkey. Banjarese, the name of South Kalimantan’s ethnicity, build unique houses and other structures. Sunny weather is commonplace in Banjarmasin, so clothing suited to hot weather is essential. The area is relatively dry between June and October when precipitation is low. This dry season is when Banjarmasin is at its most popular as a vacation destination. Even during its hottest periods, Banjarmasin benefits from gentle ocean breezes that provide a pleasant cooling effect and ensures that periods of high humidity are bearable. December to March represents the city’s wettest period. In late winter and early spring, it is advisable to bring a light raincoat.
