Srinagar, in fact, is Sanskrit for “wealthy city” and has a history that dates back well over 2,300 years. For hundreds of years, the city has been a desirable summer escape with everyone from Mughal emperors to British aristocrats. Major points of interest in Srinagar include Jamia Masjid, Khanqah of Shah-i-Hamadan, Makhdoom Sahib Shrine, Sri Pratap Singh Museum and the Tomb of the Mother of Zain-ul-Abidin.
