Ilikai Hotel & Suites Honolulu

We have stayed at the Ilikai 3 times and have noticed that new management is obviously making a great effort to update the foyer, grounds and general service. Our room was large and spacious and there was a generous sized bathroom with bath and separate shower which was much appreciated. The Ilikai is situated overlooking the marina and beach, but is at the quieter end of Waikiki. The trolley stops at the door which is great!

Overall I like the hotel and especially the location because the beach is just across the street ... the room is comfortable and really clean however the need to start to renew the rooms and especially the bathroom ... For those who is planning to rent a car they can park their car just behind the hotel and it is way cheaper the hotel parking ...

Very large room, very clean and well decorated with nice, comfortable furniture. The furnished kitchenette and comfortable couch and chair made staying in the room quite enjoyable. I wish I had had more time to stay here. Our view of the beach and of the hotels and lights of the night were awesome. While walking in the area, it is EASY to spot the aqua panels on the hotel in order to find your way back. :)

We shared a great experience at the Ilikai. Our first trip to Hawaii was rewarding and the location of the hotel made it perfect. We rented a car but was able to walk to many of our destinations. An older hotel which made it incredibly special. I would stay at the Ilikai again!! Did I mention that it was quiet.

This is my third trip to the Ilikai in the last year. My daughter lives only a few blocks away which is why i chose this spot. It is on the peaceful end of Waikiki but within walking distance of great shopping and dining. The cafe downstairs is wonderful. The wait staff is so friendly and always greeted us with warm smile. We love jazz night (Tues) at Sarento's Top of the I. Food is great and worth the price.

I enjoyed staying here. It is close to Ala Moana Park and walking distance to Waikiki. The only thing I didn't like about the room was that the TV was too far from the bed.

In and out of Honolulu on business. Location is right at the beginning of Waikiki; less tourist, less crowd. Rooms were large, well appointed. Nothing fancy but very adequate. No pay-for-view movies but had a microwave, frig, coffee maker. Front desk was very friendly, helpful. The coffee shop/grill downstairs was totally unimpressive. Slow, slow service and the food mediocre. Had a staff member who had an excuse for everything. She wasn't my server, but I asked for my check; her answer was "I'm not your server." Next morning she was my server; waited 35 minutes for a simple omelet; inquired about it and she was apologetic that it was slow, but had to add "it's not my fault." A total turnoff. Other than that over all experience was "just OK."

Would probably be rated 4-5 stars if not for the horrible parking/valet services. Room was great. Very spacious. Enjoyed having a fridge in the room as well as a shower/bath and separate shower. Large patio. Unfortunate that such a bad experience with parking is bringing their rating down so low. At checkout, I was informed that I had 2 charges for valet parking (and additional $25). I told them that I only had 1 car. The lady at the lobby smirked at me and told me that "You signed that you understood our parking rules" and proceeded to tell me that someone else had told the valet to charge their car under my name. Now, I was staying there for our Marine Corps Ball and alot of people knew I was staying there- so people can just park and tell them my name and I am responsible for them??? The lady told me that the extra car was still there and told me to sit down and wait for the valet supervisor. I waited 20 minutes with nobody showing up, and I had to leave (I have a life) so I walked out to the valet to get my car and was just gonna take the $25.00 as a loss. The valet stand helped a man before me and she then couldn't find his keys! She didn't even acknowledge that I was waiting, but I stood there waiting for another 15 minutes while she attempted to find this gentlemen's keys. At least she could have noticed I was there and asked me politely to wait. Overall- room was great...service....HORRIBLE. So much for the cheaper rate I got when I got stuck with a $25.00 parking charge that they can't explain.

The Ilikai lost it's best feature when they sold off much of the property including a gorgeous pool. The open air lobby is still lovely and you won't find more spacious accommodations in Waikiki, but our room was overdue for some remodeling. The bed was very comfortable. Great harbor view.

We came for business and needed a good hotel near our business location. The hotel was as fine as I remembered. The location and views as well as the amenities were perfect for our needs. The rooms were spacious and clean. Everyone was pleasant and helpful.

When we first arrived in Honolulu we stayed at the Hilton Hawaiian Village. That hotel was nice but I was dissapointed that there was no wireless and you were changed for cable Internet service. What a difference at the Ilikai! The rooms were much larger, there was wireless Internet and the rooms were more comfortable. I am glad that I found the Ilikai hotel, and will stay there in the future.

Although our flight had been delayed eight hours, the reception desk employee greeted us pleasantly when we checked into the Ilikai at 1:30 a.m. We appreciated receiving the same fine service at that inconvenient hour that we would expect during more conventional times of day. The lobby was airy, spacious, and pretty, with large decorative vases and plants. Our room was very clean, and we appreciated the bathroom bottles of shampoo, lotion, and conditioner. Our only complaint was the extremely slow breakfast service at the outdoor cafe. Our coffee and eggs were cool- - not hot. The waitress took a long time to approach our table. She did not offer to refill water, and we had to wait and then call to her to obtain more coffee. Still, we would give the Ilikai four stars and recommend it to friends and business associates. It is conveniently located, relative to the beach, the city, and shuttle buses. The doorman expeditiously summoned a cab for us when we asked.

We were in Waikiki for 3 days (2 nights) for a busy couple of days connecting with family members who were staying in other hotels. Our room became "the gathering place" because it was the nicest of the bunch. Though it looks a bit older from the outside. The hotel is in excellent shape overall (the interior was classy, and appears to have been remodeled in the past 5 years or so), and we had no complaints about the accommodations, whatsoever. The only complaint we had was about the little bar and grill on the patio: we had breakfast there, and the coffee was really weak, and the music (classic rock, which I normally like) was a bit ridiculous when the bartender cranked it up at 10:00 AM during our breakfast. Something mellow/hawaiian would have been fitting.

Had a great time in a first class hotel. All the staff were very accomodating and friendly. My only concern was that after th airlines made us miss a connection in Phoenix and we subsequently arrived a day later than originally scheduled we were not given any rebate on the room charges.

We enjoyed our stay at the Ilikai. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The outside of the building doesn't look the best, but the outside entrance and inside of the hotel looks great and the rooms are well sized. The hotel is a little distance from what I consider the main part of Waikiki, but the beach is still very nice near the hotel.
