Ibis Hotel Darling Harbour
3 out of 5

Good experience but did not like having to pay $7 x 2 sets of lockers to hold luggage because room was not ready. Also did not like having no "bin" in room - there was a tidy in the bathroom but not in main room

Stayed in room 1026 - awful ..This hotel is not a 3 star - the money we paid was extortion as it was the NYE period I understand but the smell in our room was atrocious...One guest advised their shower screen door fell off and the phone in the room did not work to contact down stairs. In the off peak season a room here is not worth more than $100 a night. Their is no mini bar and no room service...I got told off for bringing my own seafood downstairs on the outside tables & chairs ...Was advised it was a threat to the hotel when they don't even serve lobster or crayfish their...A complete joke.... We were told breaky was $20 but noted that at receipton the staff were haggling with guests offering $15 - ttoally UNPROFESSIONAL.....We checked out days earlier and I left my phone charger in the room , rang the hotel lost & found and the guy was too lazy to go check telling me that housekeeping would find it and return it ...I still have not had a phone call 4 days later after checking out. The beds well they have posters up everywhere stating that they have changed the matresses but since retunring back to melbourne my mum & I have had to both go and see a CHIRO as the pillows and mattress caused us back and neck pain...MY advice is to stay away from this hotel ...

we enjoed the stay. even the room was abit small but it was tidy and clean. the hotel is located just a short walk to harborside shopping centre and darling harbor. it has en easy and conveince access to light train and tram keeping you connected to city centre all the time. the breakfast buffet was good at reasonable price. overall, I recommend anyone to try it.

The room is pretty tiny. It is pretty clean and with the sea view. Overall, it is good except the tiny single bed-that is for Hobit!

Booked for the first time- would never go back. The room is too small for 2 people. View ok. To leave your luggage with them before check in time costs $7. No mini bar just coffee and Tea. Tiny bathroom and tiny shower. For the cost we paid we could have stayed at a much better hotel. The Staff were not that great either.

Staff were better than the environment. But for the price and in contrast to the website appearance it was a real disappointment. The only memorable thing was location.

Very very average hotel considering the price paid.. Extremely thin walls - U can heard conversations next door and the whole wall shook when someone accidentally bump against it.

I originally tried to book online direct. That was a disaster. Don't do it. Then I booked through ... and apart from being very easy I got breakfast for free. (although I didn't take it up and instead had a lovely breakfast at a cafe sitting next to the water). I booked a superior room with harbour views and was extremely disappointed when I arrived. The room was so small there wasn't even room for bedside tables. I got my leg caught between the bed and the wall at one stage. Bathroom too was very tiny and very basic. Decor was tired, TV was a small square one on the wall, old and very poor viewing. Paid over $260 with parking and the night before stayed in the wonderful F Suites with a one bedroom suite, two 32" TV's, gowns, slippers, bath, DVD etc. for $260 with great views and everything you could want. Big difference. Staff however were friendly, helpful and efficent. But unless they knock down a wall and make the rooms reasonable there is nothing they can do. (except maybe put in a decent TV). View of harbour was nice but we didn't want to sit in the cramped room so it wasn't that important. Unless you are single and want to stay in that area and can get a cheap deal around $100 then I would avoid it.

We found the Ibis Darling harbour to be very convenient, & adequate for an economy stopover. While quite basic, everything was there. The Staff were helpful & professional. We would stay there again

Room was not very comfortable, was very small & not enough room for 2 people(especially after travelling with 2 suitcases). Locker very expensive to store luggage (if waiting for room to be ready).Hallway carpets need good clean. Bathroom needs to be renovated. Very friendly staff, convenient location

Be very cautious when dealing with the Hotel Chain. I booked a room at the Ibis World Square and did not receive an e:mail confirmation. Several weeks later I made another booking with Ibis Darling Harbour and checked "My Booking" to find that I had double booked. Within minutes of making the 2nd booking I tried to cancel the booking which showed "No Refund". I rang Rates To Go who tried unsuccessfully to cancel the booking for me. Well done Rates To Go for being Customer Focused. Surely with an honest mistake, one would expect more understanding.

I paid $148 for a small box it said it had a queen bed but instead it was a double bed, barely a wardrobe. Fridge was left open and I was not happy at all at the presentation it was very old and needs updating.

We only stayed here out of desperation due to lack of other choices. The Twin Single room was tiny. Barely enough room to move around in, especially with two adults. Given it was two separate single beds, if your staying with a friend you better get on well! Bathroom was barely big enough to move around in. Room was quite tired and run down. Looked like it needed a coat of paint and some new fittings. Foyer area was nice and looked freshly renovated. Whilst we never stopped in for happy hour it was always packed whenever we passed through. Location was great for anything around Darling Harbour. Easy walk through to Harbourside shopping centre and down into Darling Harbour itself. Monorail was also close by which was great when heading a bit further out. Overall would stay there again if need be, but would definately pick a larger room.

the location is fabulous, room little small but as we where out exploring every day not a problem. room very clean and plenty of towels, tea, coffee etc. the view from our room just the best, we could walk or train everywhere to see sites. we will definitely be back to the Ibis. Thanks.
