Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach Resort Honolulu

Exellent Experience! Hotel staff were fantastic! Rooms weren't huge but, were very clean. Had a large flat screen that we didn't get a chance to watch. Proximity to the beach was great! Restaurants, shopping and pubs are within walking distance! I gave this 4 stars not because of the hotel being grand but, more so because the staff are fantastic and made you feel comfortable. Also, proximity to amenities and value for the dollar. I did have 1 minor negative. The breakfast served wasn't all that spectacular but, I would stay there again.

Located at the quieter end of Waikiki, Hyatt Place was a pleasant surprise with a refurbished room, complimentary breakfast/wifi & gym facilities. It ticked all my boxes. Staff throughout the hotel were very pleasant & approachable. Only downside I can think of was the old sliding door, resulting in little sound proofing.

Great location - the hotel is walking distance from the beach as well as all the shops! It is close to the Trolley stop too. I used the fitness centre which was nice and clean and the equipment seemed new! A shame that the weights area is tiny and was occupied by a couple the whole time I was in there. The e-room in the front Gallery is great - free computers and printing to use and wifi through the whole hotel. The breakfast was good but given the windy weather you are allowed to take your food up to your room. More food variety would have been nicer. The main weaknesses are no kettle in the room, no visible concierge/bell desk and the lifts are a little slow. Otherwise, great all round amenities and comfort. Rates are a little pricey but it is 4 star.

Had two separate 4 night stays in the second half of October. The second time arriving late on the night of the recent tsunami alert. On both occasions we could not have been more impressed. The rooms were spacious, clean, modern and comfortable. The breakfast facility was excellent and although I am more an eggs & bacon type breakfast person we were both completely satisfied with the range on offer. Both check in and out were totally hassle free and the free access to 4 computers and printer was an added bonus. Within 100 or so metres of the beach off the zoo end of Kalakaua Ave returning to the hotel at the end of an evening exploring the shops etc in the busier section of Kalakaua Ave meant a longer walk than we would have preferred but that in no way detracts from the hotel. On previous visits to Oahu we have stayed on Ala Moana Blvd near Hawaiian Village and that was a much longer walk (and mostly uphill). Transport facilities are on the doorstop at Hyatt Place with regular buses travelling along Kuhio Ave and heading towards Ala Moana Centre, a major shopping centre and transport transfer hub. Overall I cannot think of one negative about Hyatt Place and would have no hesitation in recommending it as a great value for money place to stay. Would I stay there again? ABSOLUTELY!!

We paid extra for ocean view which is a joke. We glimpsed a bit through three highrises. Breakfast is disappointing with a powdered egg patty and a tiny slice of canned ham on a hamburger style bun, no alternative, no choice; school canteen do better. Our room was noisy as there was a connecting door to the next room and we could here their conversations. Coffee machine in the room was good. Staff were friendly and helpful.

We had a nice and large room on floor 19 , every time we showered the floor was flooded . Coffee tea in room was terrible the wind howled through the door. Aircon was a little noisy Parking was difficult as others advised $12 parking at Banyan is best option, however free parking on other side of zoo but bit far away to monitor car. On positive side beds very comfortable . Breakfast was tasteless and in open area where you had to protect from birds very windy not enjoyable overall would not stay here again.

Since becoming a Hyatt, what a difference! The front desk area is spacious, clean and uncluttered with lots of comfortable seating in the lobby. There were ample computers and a printer for guest use. The two elevators were a little slow. The wait felt a little long but once in, your key card has to be swiped before button push and you are jetted to your floor. On the 11th floor, the room was gorgeous. A king bed, am ample sofa with hassock, a mini refrigerator, a serving tray -in case you have food in the room, a 47 inch TV , 4 drawers, a desk with chair, small bedside counters each side with a lamp and two sockets so convenient for cellphone charging, a cozy balcony with two chairs for relaxing in the breeze all strike you when you first walk in. There was no printed information provided on what to do in Hawaii, etc. The bathroom was small but clean and austere. One could not be sitting on the toilet and try to close the door. Your knees would be in the way! There was a switch that turned on the bath fan but it would stop too soon. Would have been better if one could control the on and off of that fan. The shower door was of heavy glass and was a little hard to slide. An elderly or weak person could have a problem. When slid too hard, it would thump and it seemed the walls of the room vibrated from it. The shower stall could have more accomodation for shampoo bottles, razors, gel soaps, etc. The one little triangular rack in the corner was too small. Adequate for one person but not 2 or more. The shower head was good and the single control valve understandable but one got a cold blast of water when first turning the water on! The white towels were thick and fluffy. One can get towels bigger than room towels for the beach at poolside Liked their green policy of reusing ones towels for 2 days before they are routinely changed on day 3. The bathroom sink was clean with two types of bar soap, a tube of shampoo and a tube of hair conditioner. Why no lotion of any kind?!. The counter area of the sink was small and we lacked space to keep a cosmetics bag adequately. Toothbrush stuff did okay. Under sink shelves housed a very strong hairdryer and extra wash cloths and hand towels and that is where we stored cosmetics, bath supplies etc that could not be placed on the counter. The clothes closet was small but adequate for us. There was only one suitcase rack provided. We loved the complimentary breakfast on the 3rd floor near the pool! One can help yourself from a large bowl of assorted fruits , dollop yogurt, cottage cheese etc. Toast your own bagel, white, and whole wheat bread, drink assorted fruit juices, skim and 2% milk, have some oatmeal with brown sugar, raisins, etc. For hot foods, there was biscuit with sausage, cheese and egg daily and alternately waffles, pancakes or french toast. For part of a japanese breakfast there was miso soup and one could add white rice, tofu cubes, seaweed, red ginger or shredded radish. Coffee, regular and decaf, hot water for the assortment of teas offered and all the additives topped it off. This was a wonderful amenity!

Location is Awesome, 2 blocks away from Everything and the Ocean is right there! The Zoo is a 2 min walk. The Restaurants and cafes are a block away. The Staff were very nice! from the maids to the front desk to the valet. Rooms are small, but if your going to Hawaii to stay in your room, you need to get a life. Ocean, Snorkeling, BBQs on Beach. And a late night cocktail on your Balcony and morning coffee and a dive in the big blue. I would Stay here again and again. Thank You guys from Joey in room 411. Happy Day.

Stayed here for two nights. The hotel in general smells like pigeons. Location is very convenient. Prices are cheapest in Oahu due to the renovation in the other tower. Pool and restaurant are currently closed. I've stayed in a number of hotels on the Diamond Head side of Waikiki. I can say with confidence now that I've found the worst one. On the other hand, the view was amazing for the price I paid. The hotel was fairly empty too.

The hotel is at a very convenient location walking, driving, and taking the bus. It's an old hotel, and it shows, but it was relatively clean and quiet which is what matters most. My first room had a perpetually damp carpet, the second (which I switched immediately) smelled like a gallon of Febreeze exploded in there (trying to cover up something?), and the third was okay except for the broken fridge rack and broken iron. The construction wasn't noisy. No pool or laundry facilities. There's pay internet, but often it was so slow I just used 3G on my phone. The housekeeping staff was friendly. I usually don't utilize housekeeping except to get fresh towels, but they always checked to make sure when they saw me leaving to make sure I was okay. Front Desk staff were friendly and accommodating. I would stay there again if the rates were in my price range.

Very friendly, helpful staff. I arrived early, but they still let me check in and gave me an available room. The rooms are nothing special. Clean and comfortable enough. There was construction that I was not informed of during my booking, so there was no pool, but one does not need a pool in Hawaii. Pretty much, one step up from a hostel.
