This is a hotel I have stayed in before, and will do so again. No problem at all with the anenities or service. The location is quite central, and only 10 minutes from the High Speed Rail station

Good location - easy to access from Hsinchu station (only 1km) . Sports facilities (such as swimming pool) looked good but didn't have time to use them. Staff were very friendly. Shame the restaurant was closed for renovations. I arrived early but was checked in with no problem and no extra charge.

The Howard Plaza, Hsinchu is a very nice hotel. The fact they still use metal keys (with your room number attached) rather than electronic key cards was a surprise. On the minus side: Reception was hard to find, tucked away beyond the banquet reservation desk. No message waiting light in the room, causing a late night message to be delivered early next morning. No visible time in the room with the lights out. Only the fax and the CD player had a clock, and they were tiny and unlit. With two people in the room, only one bathrobe ad it was torn. No posted times for the restaurants – you had to call each one to find out. On the plus side: The staff was excellent, courteous and competent. The room was reasonable in size and décor. The western restaurant served really good food at reasonable prices. Oh, and the staff was excellent, courteous and competent.
