Howard Johnson Inn & Suites Allentown Guest Reviews
We stayed here for two nights. I was looking for one of the many hotels in the area that offer a pool, free breakfast and allow pets. The staff was housing a construction crew who were drinking in the pool every night, so it was filthy and not safe for the family. The breakfast was TERRIBLY stale. Cold french toast that sits out all day every day and dried out, wrinkly apples. And while I expected a small fee for allowing us to bring in our pet, 25 dollars a night is a lot more than we normally pay! We have stayed in at least a dozen hotels in the past three months, and I am used to 10 or 15 per night. On top of that, the people working at the front desk were consistently unfriendly.

The place is a bit worn but the room is clean and functional. Microwave, fridge, coffee maker, iron & board, all in room. Unfortunately no pad of paper and pen on the desk, and no power outlet near the desk. Wifi included free but it's rather slow. The included breakfast is there, but don't expect much. It was rather disappointing, but for a one night stay I didn't mind too much. All in all, it's a reasonable deal for the price.

the hotel does have signs up, "pardon our appearance" but i was still disappointed. we didn't hear our neighbors talking or their tv but anytime someone turned water on to take a shower, it was like an explosion in our room. the room darkening shades don't adequately cover the window and there are no other curtains. our room was on the ground floor so we could have had conversations with anyone in the parking lot. it lacks privacy. the thin blanket was not enough for sleeping. yes, we could have turned the heat up but since it is dry air heat, it would have become difficult to breath. the sheets did not stay on the bed - at all. our shower dripped from the time we arrived - plink, plink, plink. the room wasn't worth more than $40 and we paid double that. live & learn!

I was visiting the area to race at the Trexlertown velodrome. As a bike racer I have stayed in many many "budget" motels and this was by far the worst. Security was non-existent, friends were given my room number by simply asking at the desk. I lost my key and asked for a new one and all they required was my room number. It was not clean, the same empty beer bottle laid by the front door for the entire week of my visit. I witness a teenager attempting to open every door in my hallway and the manager/clerk told me "she was just playing." Never again will I stay at Howard Johnson's.

It was great. The only issue that we incurred was the Pool was extremely SALTY!!!! We didn't quite understand that. Other than that, we enjoyed our hotel.
