Howard Johnson Inn Gatlinburg, TN Guest Reviews
Not worth the 75 a night. There are two buildings, walking from checkin to room took 5 minutes or more with slow elavator at second building. Ad says breakfast and shows adjoining restuarant, but its actually now a gym. Continental breakfast was inadequite. Not sure about how hot water is piped in, boiler vs individual heater...,but either water went scalding hot at times during shower, or ran out of hot water during...very strange.

Three of us ran up to Gatlinburg for a quick one day get away. The motel is in good repair and clean. No major problems. Just some little things like the hot water. My wife likes it scalding hot. It was fine for me. Three of us ran up to Gatlinburg for a quick one day get away. The motel is in good repair and clean. No major problems. Just some little things like the hot water. My wife likes it scalding hot. It was fine for me. It was quiet as it was away from the main Gatlinburg strip, but close enough to walk to everything. Continental breakfast was OK. They did make the waffles for you. Did have a little excitement as there was a fire in the other ‘B’ building just before were ready to go to bed. We not evacuated but the other ‘B’ building was. One room had some damage. Looked like a sofa caught on fire. Maybe from a cigarette? Guests were back in their rooms in about an hour. Impressive response for the fire call; three fire trucks, one ambulance, two police cars. These things can happen and we never felt anyone was in danger. Staff was friendly and let us check in a couple of hours early. Overall we were satisfied and will be back.

We go to check in @ 2:58 (3pm check in) and get rudely told that we WERE early and our room wasn't cleaned yet. So, we went walking & finally decided to check back before the show, and they were just done with our room @ 4:00. My husband called to see how to light the fireplace (40 degrees out) and the front desk said the chimneys weren't open yet! The shower was rickety, but the comfy bed & jacuzzi made up for all the other issues. Would never stay there again though......

Overall, the stay was average. The hotel location is slightly away from the noise of downtown Gatlinburg. This was a nice component for me. Nevertheless, it is very walkable to anything downtown if you are capable of physically walking about half mile. The price was very fair compared to other hotels in the region. The specific hotel room that I stayed in was a bit outdated and the red velvet carpet was very worn. Also, the shower head in the bathroom was located only slightly half way up the wall. Therefore, any person 5'8 in height and up would have to bend down at the knees to actually wash you're hair. This was a nuisance needless to say. The view from the room was a relatively decent one of the MTNS however and the front desk staff were very friendly.

Original room had noisy fan on air conditioner, so we asked to be moved. But, staff member was nice about move to new room and when checking out later. Beds were clean and made up. Found a hair in tub of new room. Bathroom door hard to close. Carpet had been replaced (not same as orig room) and had strange smell. Wireless internet would not work. TV picture was so dark you could barely view without lights on. Most attractions and stores were within walking distance. Time for renovation!
