Hip, playful, and full of imagination describes the indulgent Hotel Vertigo, a reincarnation of the old Empire Hotel featured in Alfred Hitchcock's legendary work. Guests of the hotel can prepare to experience the city anew in accommodations that feel more like a private residential apartment than a hotel. Style, wonder and a sense of "anything goes" set this Nob Hill hotel apart from the rest in the the downtown San Francisco area.

Location
Hotel Vertigo enjoys a prestigious spot tucked into a beautiful area near Union Square and the Theater District. World-class nightlife and shopping are close by in the vibrant city centre of San Francisco.

Rooms
Elegant design and decor grace the guestrooms at Hotel Vertigo, including a subtle nod to Hitchcock in the uniquely-detailed "swirled" wall art. The rich, eco-conscience rooms feature wireless Internet and some include MP3 docks and refrigerators.

Restaurant
An eclectic array of dining choices line the streets surrounding Hotel Vertigo. Enjoy casual and upscale eateries as well as cafes and bars.

General
Hotel Vertigo is within minutes of Moscone Convention Center, Market Street, Westfield Shopping Center and the Financial District.

We stayed in Petite Queen for 4 nights over the New Year's holidays. Front desk staff were helpful and polite, the room was clean and cozy, and the location was convenient - lots of dining options, mini-markets and coffee shops in the area. I was a little worried about the neighborhood -some reviews suggested it's somewhat sketchy, but it's simply not true. You might have a homeless guy ask you for some change and a cigarette, but that's it. We never felt threatened or uncomfortable on the street even after dark. It is within walking distance of Chinatown (20mins), Japantown (20 mins), Moma (20 mins), Downtown (20 mins) and Fisherman's Warf (45 mins). If you want to explore the city on foot, get a feel for San Francisco Atmosphere and have a room with a unique romantic feel - Vertigo is for you. Here are some things to be prepared for: Valet Parking will cost you $35 a day with unlimited in/out privileges. You have to call 30-40 minutes in advance to have your car ready. Street parking is tough, but doable after a day or two of figuring it out. Just read ALL the street signs and learn meter operation hours. There are also 2 street public garages in the area. Using those can save you about $15 a day. Hotel is located in a historic building, so with charm come little inconveniences-thin doors (be very quiet in the hallways), older tubs and elevator. Overall we really enjoyed our stay:it felt more like an apartment in the city than a hotel, and it is a great way to travel.

Hotel is 100% renovated. Room was spotless & staff was great. Some older reviews talked about noise from other rooms, but the hotel was full while we were there and we never heard anyone. Door was very heavy and soundproof. Yes it is only a 3 star, small hotel but with room coffee, lobby coffee, fridge, great lighting in room and free internet it is quite a bargain.

First my flight was change and I call the hotel to tell them that I was going to be late but I would be there, When I got there I didn"t have a room. They had over booked. They sent me to another hotel and everyone that I was with was at this hotel. I got to the other room at 2 am. When back the next day and they had me a room at 3 pm that day. This was the first time that I ever did something like this and I hated the EXPERIENCE all the way. Thanks

Hotel is older but remodeled. Not too far from Union Square district and only takes a few to walk the 4 blocks. Good cheap places to eat breakfeast at across the street. If you aren't looking for luxury then this is the place because it's a good place to stay if visiting and you save a ton of money. Being there as a tourist you really don't spend too much time in your room so save your money and have fun elsewhere. We had a room in the back away from the street and it was quiet at night. No problems!!

The room was very nice and the staff helpful but there is no air conditioning. Also rooms on the street can be very loud (especially with the window open).

Vertigo is located only about 6 blocks or so from Union Square and Westfield Mall. I took a city sight seeing tour from Union Square which was a lot of fun and made it very easy to see all of the local tourist attractions. The staff at Vertigo was very friendly and helpful the whole time I was there. I do not have one bad thing to say about the hotel. I loved my room, the accomadations and the people. Truly a great place to stay.

I was "upgraded" from unrenovated room to a renovated room, sounds great, but there is a price to pay as I found out later, the room only had a pull-out (sofa) bed, which wasn't comfortable to sleep in. Given the choice I would rather choose unrenovated room with a proper bed, afterall what is a beautiful looking room with terrible bed to sleep in? I'd rather go for comfortable bed anytime.

It is a very nice hotel, which will soon change its name to Hotel Vertigo. The only drawback is a relatively high price, but the service and the room were excellent.

I found this very quiet for a good night's sleep and the staff care about your experience and will be helpful with local information. Room was above the average I have found in the US, in terms of condition (most seem to be dated and in need of overhaul).

I have ordered a twin bed room. The first room I got was a one kingsize room. The second room was a one kinsize room. Third attemp was corrct. However when my delayed baggage arrived at the hotel, it was put into the first room, which ment another 2 hours delay.

Although breakfast was included in the price, the presentation was a bit tacky. Plastic cutlery, paper cups and watered down fruit juice was a bit hard to take. In some ways I would rather pay for a higher standard. Hotels in Germany and the UK which included breakfast had a higher standard this this.

I had a great time at this hotel - it was in a great location with a lovely room. You had to pay for internet access, but there were free locations elsewhere in the city that I used.
