Hotel St. Regis Detroit Guest Reviews
I would definitely stay here again. Staff was friendly and got us whatever we needed. Be aware that it is a $28 overnight charge for your car to park. We stayed 2 nights and were charged only the $28, probably because we didn't get it out of the lot the whole time. There is a $7 valet parking fee, but we were not charged this ... again I think because we just left the vehicle where it was. It's a $8-$10 cab ride to Ford Field and Tiger's Stadium, so all in all it's worth it. Great value!

I just got back from my trip to Detroit and I had stayed at Hotel St. Regis for 1 night. Thankfully it was just one night. The hotel is quite an old architecture and is located in a neighborhood that appears to be quite shady. I arrived on a Sunday and found the neighborhood to be deserted. Although the hotel is located not very far from Downtown, I was terribly disappointed to know that there was only one eatery across the street. I went around the block trying to look for a decent place to eat or order my food from, but found it hard to believe that near a bug hotel like that, there was one fast food store (Happy pizza) and a Chinese take out place. None of them seemed to be decent places to eat. I saw plenty of suspicious looking people walking around (people who looked like they had doped and drunk for days). Gleefully, the city Police Department is a block away. The only saving grace was a CVS phramacy from where I ended up getting chips and soda for lunch. The hotel menu is terrible. As far as the rooms are concerned, they were clean, beds were comfortable. I am saying beds because in the room I was initially assigned, the conditioner started making a noise and I could not sleep further. So I called the front desk person who told me that he would send someone to my room. After waiting for about 30 minutes, I went downstairs to ask if someting could be done about it. I was surprised when her said "Is it still making noise?" and I thought to myself, "You said you'd send somebody and now you expect the conditioner to get fixed by itself?" Then he quickly assigned me to another room and called someone to accompany me to the room to make sure everything in the room was OK. The other room was alright, but I was surprised that not a single word of apology was mentioned for the inconvenience caused. The hotel looked desserted and at night in the lobby (when I went down to report the conditioner making noise), I heard the sound of glass being shattered (as if someone was repeatedly banging a heavy glass object with a hammer) at 2-3 minute intervals from the "private party room" the whole time I waited in the lobby. There were no lights on in that room. The front desk person went inside the room and brought back someone else with him and that person quietly went and sent down in the lobby waiting area. It felt a little strange! 2 positive things: They let me check in earlier than the hotel check in time and check out a little after the check out time. Hence I give a 3-star rating. Bottom line: Plus - Clean rooms and spacious bath rooms; Minus - Old building, malfunctioning/non-functioning gadgets in rooms, poor location with very shady activities in and around the premises, poor options for dining, personnel can improve on courtesy

Location was great. We were spending most of our time at the Henry Ford Hospital. This location made traveling back and forth easy. No stinky smoke smells in the hotel. Comfortable room. Bed was comfortable. Wished they had someone working at the free breakfast to replenish things and meet your needs.
