Hotel St. Francis Guest Reviews

I always used this hotel in the past; it reminded me of a European getaway. Then it was purchased by a large chain and made into a sparse, dull, and drab housing suitable for a monk. The first thing I noticed was no coffee maker in the room. Well okay I thought, maybe an oversight. Then I showered after my long car trip only to find out the robes had also been removed. So no robes, no coffee and the next morning I learned that the paper at your door service had also gone by the wayside. There was always an older gentleman that tended the door- he is gone also. The price pretty much stayed the same or is higher. Funny how they removed the furniture in the lobby, charge more for parking in their lot; removed robes, coffee and newspaper; and raised the price. Anyone have a new suggestion for a hotel in Santa Fe?

This was a special trip for my birthday present to myself and a friend to join me. I heard of this hotel and a few others from my Aunt who grew up in the area. I did my homework and read every comment goood/bad about the hotel and package deals. I was pleased with this purchase Will be definitely back sometime because of how well everything turned out. The only reason why I gave the "average" to the room comfort is because of the sink/vanity area. Difficult for anyone that likes to have their toiletries on the counter tops. Not possible w/this sink. The toilet and shower are next to w/a step up (very important ) to remember when going in the dark or 1st time since it's a bit awkward. I had read about the step so I made sure to tell my pregnant friend. I wonder how many times people forget and do stub or twist their ankles and fall either on the bed or to the floor. Thanks to the reviews that mentioned it because , I would have fallen or freaked out! The picture online is correct. A little quaint room w/hardwood floors, wooden furniture and the usual blowdryer, flat screen and small frigerator. But for the rest there was six pillows on both double beds & down comforter's that were cozy. All was missing was a electric fireplace that could light the room up better in the evening. Overall the simplicity, price and location to the square and shops are worth it. Inger was a delight, just like she is on their home page. One warning, the walls are thin and we heard some loud, rude people in the hallway and in the rooms @all hrs. Next time I will call the front desk to report but overall it was a lovely trip.

This is a great hotel. Newly rennovated. Excellent location. Yes, rooms are small (like European ones), but keep in mind this building is old. Besides what do you need a big room for, aren't you in Santa Fe to have fun? If you have a big family and small children, this might not be a good bet for you. Lovely lobby. Restaurant has great food. If you want cheap in Santa Fe, you should eat at McDonalds. Otherwise, take a chance and eat breakfast or dinner here. Staff friendly and helpful.

My stay was to look for land for a vacation home but I needed to stay connected for work. Rooms are on the smallish size and my first one didn't have a desk but the front desk easily moved me to one that did. Wifi was good and reliable. All staff very friendly and accomodating. Can't beat hanging out on the front "porch" pretty much at any time for relaxation and people watching!

Hotel under renovation -- no amenities, not even an elevator. Construction noise and work during day, loud neighborhood at night.
