Had such a great time at this resort. Resorts arent really my thing, as i like hostels and low key hotels, but i thought ide end my trip at a resort after 5 wks of backpacking. It was so amazing. Its very grand, the restaurants were amazing, the pools and atmosphere was fun. They have entertainment staff to keep things fun all day. Then if you like they arrange a party bus to a local club where they put you in a VIP area, unlimited drinks. That was so great. As a solo traveller, that allowed me to meet other travellers and have fun. I thought this resort was adults only, but it wasn't. It didnt really matter anyway, because the kids werent really an issue. The day spa was luxurious, and lovely. Definitely recommend getting a treatment. Love the fact its all inclusive. Also, this place is right on the beach, and it was amazing and beautiful. I spoke to other travellers who had stayed at other resorts and they said this one was better than the others. I got a great price and would definately return!

The staff is the friendliest! Everything was perfect. The location is in a safe part of town and within 5 min walking distance of the hotest clubs in Cancun. Def would go again

This hotel exceeded our expectations from the moment we arrived to the end of our stay. Everything about the hotel is nice-lobby, bars, restaurants, and rooms. The staff is extremely accommodating. By the end of our stay, we knew many of them by name. Be sure to check out the live shows every night. They were great. We were pleased with the all the restaurants, except the Brazilian steakhouse. The night we ate there, everything seemed to off from the food to the service. But, that's the great thing about a resort like this: there are other options to choose from every night. Just be sure to make your reservations as early as possible. On a side note: this trip was taken by my partner and myself. There has been a lot of news about Cancun opening up to LGBT travelers looking to marry. While that may or not go through, we did feel welcome at this hotel. We even met another LGBT couple staying at hotel. The hotel might not specifically cater to LGBT customers, but we never felt out-of-place or discriminated against.

The hotel has a beautiful lobby and they go out of their way to help you. It's in the main zone, so be sure to have dollars/pesos to use on the bus (they won't give you change) Great buffet selections Friday - Monday, but would recommend booking restaurants during the week. Also recommend taxi from airport - hotel & back, Our transportation was delayed - but prepaid, so we were stuck. Taxi ride to hotel zone in cancun should be 35-40. Do not let them overcharge. Get to know a taxi driver & he will help you travel cheaply.

Sgt Joseph Bitet was mysteriously killed on this property on jan 7th 2012. The hotel has been nothing but difficult in cooperation with the investigation. Joseph was seen on a hotel video with a man with a black & white checkered shirt & was also found by a russian couple. Family has not been given the last name/identity of this Russian Couple who also has never been questioned due to a language barrier per the Mexican Police and Hotel Staff. The man Joe was with a few minutes prior to his death has never been identified either. If anyone knows anything about this crime, please look this story up on the virtual tourist & contact the family. Thank You. Also please boycott all riu resorts, Joseph was a honored marine who served in Iraq twice, & was currently a sergeant in the army set to be deployed later this year. It is quite obvious that they are covering something up.

To sum it up. It wasn't what I expected. This is suppose to be a 4 star resort but the rooms are mediocre. They have this molding smell and the room was humid at all times even with AC on high and fan on. I just feel damp throughout my sleep. The views are pretty good though, since I got Ocean View Junior Suite. The food need a special touch to it and it was repetitive and not satisfying at all. But everyone should go try Puerto Madero, awesome steak & lobster house, which is a cab ride away.

Food and drink are great, but not the Japanese restaurant food. service are excellent, room is very clean, great hotel for relaxing. Just was disappointed by the Spa front desk staff. The two men I deal with are same: did not like to explain their service, and do not like to answer questions.

Awesome place & food. Although the hotel is beachfront the beach is very rocky, therefore it is not suitable for nice relaxing swimming.

This hotel was awesome! The wait staff was wonderful. The views were wonderful. The food was great for an all inclusive. The people were very friendly. Non stop drink service. Waiters had no problem bringing as many drinks as you wanted. The Italian place was a great place to go to lunch for a small quiet meal. Many people have complained about the beach. If you take a look around this was one of the bigger beaches. You do have to move around a bit to catch the sun, but we had no problems finding a chair. People have commented about getting to the pool early to save yourself a spot. This was true. I think most people were turning their towels in at the end of the day and getting clean ones to run down in the morning to save their spot. Reason for not giving a perfect score: The hotel did have an odor from time to time that was beyond normal "beach" smell. The staff did what they could do to tried to deodorize it. We found that leaving the balcony door open as often as possible did help. Its not just this hotel with the odor, the mall across the street smells the same way (not quite as bad). I think they should get rid of as much carpeting in the hotel as possible. This odor would NOT deter me from staying here again. The only other issue I had was trying to book dinner at the specialty restaurants. Get at the desk as early as possible in the AM and try calling before your trip to schedule. We were never able to try the Krystal restaurant and the Japanese was no better than going to the buffet. We just gave up on all of that because the buffet was good enough. I was worried about staying here because of mixed reviews. This ended up being the perfect place for my budget. The room set up is very similar to the Fiesta Americana Grand Coral Beach (stayed there in March). The only difference for me was that this was all inclusive and a little bit smaller of a hotel. Perfect Vacation! Best bang for the buck!

First off, the staff is amazing. The first worker we dealt with was Daniel at the check in desk. He spent about 10 minutes with us describing (in perfect English) what to do, where to eat, and where to find everything. This was a precursor for the type of service this hotel provides. The bartenders were very accomodating and made strong drinks. Juaquin and the pool crew were fun and energetic, and kept that energy up through the night (they also led trips to the clubs downtown). Even the maid service was excellent. They were available throughout the entire day, sometimes cleaning our room around 6 pm if we shoed them away earlier. The maid even would come up late in the evening to give us extra towels (as we tended to shower a lot). The rooms came with 4 bottles of liquor, a fridge full of dos equis, bottled water, and pop. And the drinks never stopped flowing. I'd recommend this to couples as well as families. The food was good, but I'd say that the best food actually was at the buffet. We ate at two specialty restaurants, and actually enjoyed the buffet and the bar-b-que more than the restaurants. But all in all, a great stay. I'd suggest paying that little extra and getting the full ocean view suites... staying out watching the waves at nice is great when you have a full view. Also, if you enjoy going out to the clubs at night, Coco-Bongo, Daddios, and Sr. Frogs are within a 4 block walk on well-lit streets.

We had a great week. So much food and beverage to choose from. Customer service was supurb from the moment we checked in to dining to bar to being taken care of on the beach. It will be hard pressed to surpass the service. Only thing we did not like was the room always had moisture in the air. Felt like the sheets/pillow were damp and clothes the same. Besides this one thing, every thing else was perfect. We plan on staying at a Riu again.

The lobby was fantastic. We got upgraded (for a substancial fee) to a whirlpool suite with a HUGE balcony. We had a very nice time, but the all inclusive was simply not worth the money for the quality of food and drinks.

We always try to stay at RIU resorts. We have been to Cancun numerous times and usually stay at the RIU Carribe. We wanted to see if the Palace was worth the extra money. On a positive note the rooms are a little bigger but beds are no better and balcony not any bigger. The service at the Palace is top notch. Whether you are on the beach or by the pool they have someone taking your order and making sure your drinks are full. The beach is not real big, and the ocean is kind of rocky. Because the hotel is so tall it blocks the sun around 2pm. So the pools and most of the beach are sunless. The buffet was not as good as the Carribe or the RIU Cancun next door. The Restaurants were good. But we spent most of our time next door at the RIU Cancun's buffet. Very few kids, which is great!

It's a palace. What can i sale more? The name explains pretty much everything. There are everything you need to enjoy your holidays. From buffets to a la carte dining restaurants, you will see yourself gorging the food every moment. Don't even expect to maintain your weight during your stay. I especially liked Brazillian a la carte restaurants. Their BBQ chicken and pork were amazing.
