Hotel Monopol Luzern
4.2 out of 5

Fabulous location and hot water for tea or coffee was readily available from the cafe near the foyer. Could be very noisy if you wanted to open the windows but great in winter.

A very clean, modern and well situated hotel (literally across the road from the main train station in Innsbruck). The only issue I could mention, and one common to many European hotels, is a lack of self-serve coin-operated laundry facilities. Other than, highly recommended and value for money.

The Monopol is hardly a 4star hotel. At first the location seemed great as it was right outside the main train station, however I soon realised that it was also right next to a nightclub so noise was a problem. The service at the reception desk was hardly in existance and we did not feel welcomed at all. The room was not too bad but the bathroom was old and lacked the things that a normal 4star hotel would provide (eg shampoo, toiletries). There was no business centre for access to the internet and no air conditioning in the rooms. Overall, I would rate this hotel a 3-star (and that's being generous).

There were no hooks for hanging wet towels in the bathroom.

Front Stuffs is very helpful to their guest, not only hotel's information but including any information which their guests would like to know.

Warning: The hotel has a night club on the 7th floor...which equals NO sleep! I called several times, even moved rooms, and it was still unbearable. I didn't sleep one wink all night long. The music didn't stop until 6:30 am...then finally I slept for almost 5 minutes until my alarm went off. I should have been informed of this-it was ridiculous.

This hotel is located opposite the railway terminal and close to attractions and shops. There is a nightclub in the basement of the hotel.

The best part about this hotel was its location. Come out of the rail station and cross the road and you are into the hotel! Overall the room size, cleanliness, bathrooms etc are good. What is really bad is the staff attitude. The receptionist was downright rude and was least bothered that we were travelling with a baby. She didn''t let us check in even a minute earlier than the check in time although we requested that she check us in a little earlier as we had a baby.

Very good location - just opposite train station and in the heart of Lucerne. Rooms are good, though a little bit costly as far as value for money is concerned.

Very noisy corner, hard to sleep on a hot summer night when the windows were open. No A/C.

The bathroom is poor compared to many other hotels. Water from the shower gets all over the place. Staff isn''t helpful. Don''t know much about the area. Ex: don''t know where attractions are, which restaurants are opened later.

I was very pleased with the value of this hotel, was pretty cheap for two people and with breakfast, also good value. The hotel is in a wonderful location, very central to the centre and also right opposite the train station. The only thing that I would have liked to have seen was tea/coffee facilities in my room, however, there was a good choice in the mini bar!

Excellent location for an excellent hotel value. Would have paid twice as much for the room to be honest. We felt we had "gotten away with something" considering our room came with breakfast included. Right next to train station, and right near everything you''d want in Lucerne, including the bus stops for the trips to the mountains. Great time. Thanks!

I found the people who helped at breakfast not very friendly and helpful. Are they able to smile at least? I am sorry to say but this regards only the ''Asian'' people.

Excellent location for shopping and use of trains. We have used this hotel periodically since 1970. This was our 14th visit to Switzerland, a most beautiful country.
