Perfect location. Evertthing works. Noise from street disturbs.

The hotel was nice, staff was helpful. HOWEVER: when you step out the door get ready. panhandlers, crack heads and thugs are everywhere for a block in any direction. You will be bothered no matter what time of day. They could fix this by putting security on the sidewalk rather than sitting in the lobby. I never got knifed, but I did see a few homeless guys fight.

All things of the hotel is good except for it's neighbourhood. It seems a little unsafe walking around the hotel at night.

They didn't have my reservation in the system. Thankfully they had one room available. Later that night, I had to get to a meeting and was a little sketched out by the group of weird guys hanging out around the block. I asked the front desk if they could call me a cab. He told me that I would never get one and told me to take the BART. Granted, the BART station is close and convenient, but as a female traveling alone in a new city, sometimes you just wanna take a cab. It seemed like he just dismissed me. I ended up in Oakland (my meeting was NOT in Oakland). The "breakfast" consisted of two unripened oranges and some ok coffee (no milk). Maybe you have to show up right at 7am to get the ripe ones. The business center has a fake copy of Windows. The "gym" is one treadmill (broken) and one stairstepper. But, it is the only place you can watch cable. The rooms have no air-conditioning or heating. There is a $5 "convenience fee" for using a credit card to get something from the vending machine, so bring cash. I'm not even going to chance using their "airport shuttle" to get me to my flight. Ok, there ARE some nice things about the hotel. It certainly is "boutique-y" and very cute. There is a bumping bar/restaurant in the basement, although the wait is usually really long. And it's generally pretty clean. The beds are VERY comfortable, and they provide nice toiletries. I would recommend you KNOW what you're getting into, because it is reasonably priced for a hotel downtown, and it's OK if you don't expect too much. Bottom line, the amenities/services do not match the rather beautiful decor of the hotel.

I had just made my reservation one night before. When I called the hotel back to ask about their parking policy, I was greeted by the most vulgar and rudest female member of their staff. I don't think any customer should be called stupid or that any question is stupid or invalid. I have every right to ask any question I like since I am paying for my stay. I cancelled my reservation after speaking to a manager who assured he would get to the bottom of this incident. I will not change my mind nor ever attempt to stay here again because I already have a bad taste of experience of their customer service. Customer beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Location is good but the area does'nt look safe it lacks facilities like air conditioning and room service. It's basically clean and service is good in terms of room cleaning.

A great hotel right in the heart of downtown. Don't be put off by the outside appearance as the hotel is stylish, modern and extremely comfortable. Staff were always very helpful and the in-room amenities were fantastic. Second visit and will keep coming back.

The hotel was really quite good, the only reason that it loses out is the location. The area is a bit dodgy, with lots of homeless people and probably would not suit a family. Having said that, it's nice and central and good value, although it does not provide breakfast. It suited me pretty well for my needs.

Not a bad hotel, but right in the ghetto that is the tenderloin, so kind of scary walking outside!

Bloomingdales, Macy's, GAP, Old Navy, what else could anyone ask for?? Despite the rating of 'bad location', this does not intefere with the quality of this hotel. My sister and I stayed at this hotel for four nights and really loved it! We were anxious at the first impression we had as we approached in our shuttle, but once we stepped inside the doors, we were put at ease. I would definitely stay there again!!

The hotel is well appointed and modernly refurbished and within a few minutes walk to Bloomingdales and the tram turnaround. The only downside is it is located in an area with a high homeless persons population. We didn't have any problems but a single person may not feel comfortable late in the evening.

This was my second time I stayed in this hotel. Really excellent location although home less around the corner are a bit off putting particularly when it's dark. This time my room was not a nice as the first time (I was on a "blue" floor this time), but it was clean and had all I needed. Will stay there again when in SF.

this is a funky hotel. The decor is funky and quite a surprise. the location is a few blocks from Powell Street cable car terminus. We found the neighbourhood to be somewhat scary. the locals sleep anywhere and do anything and its just nearby that the refuge is. however if you can deal with that the place is good. The staff will order a shuttle to the airport and will store baggage until pick up on the check out day. The rrom didn't have air con which on a hot day could make it not so pleasant. The room was clean and there is free internet access on the mezzanine level. It was a surprise pakage for us.

A nice, comfortable hotel, with everything you need including free wireless internet access. It is right on the edge of the "bad" end of town. Although the Hilton and other 5 star hotels are just a block away - if you venture out the door of the Metropolis turn left and you will be fine.

Nice hotel with distinctive Victorian styled rooms in the Nob Hill district which is 5-10 walk away from the cable car system, the rooms are small and compact so the facilities are limited.
