The room was a tiny room with a horrible uncomfortable bed...the only plus was that it was one block from beach.

This was our first time in Rio, so we did not know what to expect, and we do not have anything to compare it to. That said, we thought hotel was good and clean, and staff helpful. Staff lent us hairdryers, kitchen utensils, stored luggage for us, hailed cabs for us, and gave directions. Breakfast quality is excellent, and is part of the deal. Location can't be beat, right close to beach. Only drawback is room is tiny compared to US standards.

This hotel is very nicely located and reasonable for a "value" hotel. The staff was generally helpful. However, when I checked in, I was informed that I would be required to pay a 10%, cash-only, service fee for the staff. This may be a reasonable way to pay their staff, but it was an unwelcome surprise. I stayed in three hotels during my trip, and this was the only one with a service fee.
