This is a nice place to stay near the lake and the downtown area. Nothing fancy, just good value.

No room service. Meals prepared in cardboard and plastic no crokery plates provided. As a business man no room to put chair to desk for a computer. I do not think I will go for an IBIS budget again. I had been a few years ago and was okay. But now is really BUDGET.

Was disappointed with room - we didn't have a view but our friends did and yet I was the one that booked it. It is an excellent location being close to the lake and easy walking into the city. It was very clean and tidy but I felt the rooms needed refurbishing - it was looking a little tired! The price was very good for what we had - I felt the Dining Room resembled a cafe' - I like table cloths on the table especially for breakfast and when the cost was $21 per head they should have had tablecloths!

I requested Non smoking room but to my utmost surprise the room I got was very smelly. I found spider on the wall and also there were webs on the corners. Room was averageand washroom had paint wearing out. Not very pleasing experience especially the room was very smelly.

Good experience the staff friendly, the rooms very clean and nice view over the lake. The only thing I would say was the rooms are a little compact, but for the price I think are great. The situation being near to where all the restaurants are and central city was really good just being able to basically walk around the corner. Would highly recommend this Hotel, we really enjoyed our stay!

Room quality did not match Ibis rateing of Ibis hotels in Europe two star rateing would be closer. Location is excellent, staff friendly. The hotel needs to spend money to bring it into the present day.

This is a low cost hotel, just 4 blocks from the major bus stop/information centre; and 1 block away from the lake and many lake activity tour providers. Around the other side of this block you can attend a Maori cultural experience complete with hangi dinner. (Book at reception). 2 blocks away is the primary restaurant strip in town (Eat Street). Almost everything you could want to do in town is less than 15 minutes walk away. Rooms are clean, but not spacious. Functional, but not pretty. Beds are comfortable, the water is hot, and if you're staying as two friendly adults; you'll probably get good value for money.

stay there one night, the TV was not working at first, then I tried different buttons on the controller and finally got it work. when I checked out, got a 20 dollars bill for movie which i did not watch. I tried to explain to the reception. but the staff didnot care and kept saying you have to pay... 20 dollars was not much but felt got robbed and the staff was not helpful and kind of rude

Great hotel at great price. Central location, walking distance to almost everything. The rooms were nice but had two double beds which didn't leave a lot of space. Reception staff were very friendly and we got a late check out and no extra charge which I greatly appreciated! Did not eat at the hotel so can not comment on bar/restaurant. Will stay at the Ibis if I visit Rotorua again.

Unbelievable nice deal, we've enjoyed the stay at Hotel Ibis Rotorua very much. Location is good, room is clean & tidy. There was almost "no space walking around" with 2 x double beds in that size of room, but should not be a big problem if no kids.
