Our second stay at this hotel was much more pleasant and the staff were attentive to our needs. We also discovered that, while it is a bit out of town, it was very accessible to the famous Matrah Suq and to Old Muscat, so we had a good two days. Ken

Typical mi-market middle eastern hotel. Breakfast was OK, room was OK, the bars & bands were average. Good value for money. Unexceptional but acceptable in every way.

Muscat is quite an expensive city in which to stay. If you simply need a clean, comfortable place to sleep, then this is worth considering. Room service was also OK, if like us, you enjoy Indian food. We used it as a perfect base to explore the environs of Muscat, including Qurayyat, reached in an hour via a fabulous drive through the mountains. That said, we stayed in late February (cooler season) & the AC had trouble in effectively cooling the room. This was a large room, with a high ceiling & it is possble that the AC is undersized for the air volume, presumably increasingly so in the summer months.

The hotel was adequate. We selected it on price. However we want a hotel that is clean with comfortable beds and it met both of those criterion. The only drawback is that it is a distance away from things to do in Muscat. With a rental car, it was no problem. Breakfast was 2 Rials extra, so we shopped for things for breakfast and ate much cheaper.

Hotel Golden Oasis is just away from the busy Muscat City Centre in a quiet location, facing a low mountain range. Accessible from the CBD or via the beautiful coastal Corniche Road, and Al Bustan area. For the price of a Cheaper Hotel in Muscat, this will do fine. The Rooms are clean and comfortable, and in-Room Dining is fine with a wide variety of Arabic, Egyptian, Chinese and Indian Cuisine to choose from. There's also an Internet Cafe so you can touch base with the Digital World. The hotel is just about 5 to 8 minutes to the Business District by Taxi. For early morning Departures from Muscat Airport, or from the Ruwi Bus Terminal, I suggest you pre-book a Taxi with the Front Desk a day earlier, because Taxis are a rarity plying the route in the early hours of the morning, 5:30 am - 7:00 am. The Hotel is in its expansion program so business is gaining momentum. Be sure to book this Hotel if budget and peace of mind is what you'd want to have in your business travels to beautiful...Oman.

Hotel was nice and clean, although was woken up 3 times between half 4 and half 6 in the morning asking to check out, one time included a man letting himself in and then getting the key stuck! Not very pleasant for a female statying on their own (myself). We (my partner-who left the previous evening and I also happened to have a room where the view is a new hotel currently being built, and were woken up everyday at 6am with people right outside our window (on 5th floor) plastering the walls and balacing themselves on tiny pieces of wood and poorly builr scaffolding. The staff at reception however were very helpful, but I shall not be staying in a hotel where they ring you up and actually come into your room at 5am asking what time you are going to check out. They said on the phone (or what I could make out) that they wanted the room early for other customers to check in, however check out time is noon. Not at 5am though! Very poor indeed.

The location of this hotel is great since it is located close to muscat city and other interesting places. Staff are friendly . However the room was not as good as what you expected it to be. I have booked from [website] for triple bed but was initially only given a double bed (they do not have triple bed) soo later an extra bed was added in into my room and that have made the room less spacy. The lift was old ( i would call it as shaking lift). Parking was difficult especially at night. I have travel with my 2 young kids- the hotel was quiet and they had slept well t/out the night. Anyway it was a pleasant stay at the hotel.

The hotel is good value for money. Only downsides are it's proximity to the local mosque, which means you are woken up at 5.15am on the dot by the call to prayers from a loudspeaker which appears to be transmitting from just outside your hotel window. There is a lot of construction work both across the road and a doubling of the hotel accommodation between to hotel and the main road!

We stayed here for three nights and it was OK but nothing more. You need a car for transportation or taking taxi wherever you go. No shops around. Best value (and cheaper) in this hotelcathegory in Muscat is absolutely Corniche hotel by the fishmarket in town city.

Rooms were clean but basic. Beds extremely hard (common in Arab world) with no top sheet! Location difficult since there is nothing nearby i.e. restaurant, fast food or shop. Food in hotel was very good and reasonable but atmosphere awkward as both the hotel "restaurant" and "night club" were meeting places for locals. Breakfast could have been nicer if the eggs and toast were not cold. Service however was good generally and staff friendly and welcoming.

The lobby is more impressive than the rooms. The breakfast, included in the price, was without frills, the usual toast with butter and marmalade, and either Nescafe or a tea-bag. But the location is quiet and non-touristy, which we quite liked. A large local market (Friday evening there is the goat market) is directly across the street. We were the only tourists there, so got a nice sampling of local colour!
