Great location, very handy for all down town digs - eat/drink/shop and tube station. Nice soft, comfy beds (very UNLIKE China!) Highly recommended! Will always stay back there!

Service is good and most of the staff speak English. Breakfast served in the hotel has a good variety though the tea served could be of better quality.

The only thing this hotel has going for it is its steak house restaurant as well as the buffet breakfast...Otherwise, the rooms are on the small side & the beds in my room were exceptionally poor quality. Soft & mushy like I get in Europe. My aching back! Apparently, they have two kinds of rooms & two kinds of beds in this hotel because when I stayed here last October I had a nice quality firm bed that was very suitable. I asked to be moved but was told that no rooms would be available for 5 more days...Apparently, all of the other guests that checked in after I did for three days were also getting the "bad" rooms. The in room internet service either was out of order or ran at dial up speed. Plus, if you want to purchase a two hour block of internet time you have to go down to the main lobby & purchase an access code...Kind of archaic & the slow elevators don''t alleviate the inconvenience... This was my last stay at he Shaghai Equitorial.

The hotel was very nice & staff friendly. I had requested a non-smoking room but as I arrived late they were all taken but they were able to move me the next morning to a non-smoking room. The smoking room was not too bad as the hotel is new & kept quite clean. <BR><BR> The swimming pool was beautiful & water a comfortable temperature. Massage area nice & massage very good. I would stay there again.
