perfectly located in the heart of Hobart. Request a room on an upper level to avoid traffic noise

- compared to grand chancellor and somerset pier which I stayed in before, not as good as both. - but room was cleaned everyday which was a v good thing. also, there was internet- another bonus. -compared to somerset, does not have coffee/tea, access to washing machine -compared to grand chancellor- bathroom was not as big, luxurious. - but then again, compared to other hotels and prices, hotel collins is affordable.

Getting from Hobart airport to Hotel Collins was incredibly easy as the shuttle bus drops you off at the front door. When my friend and I arrived to check into our King room, we were advised that it was a shared bed. When we informed the receptionist Katie that we would like two separate single beds, she was more than obliging in transferring us to another room already set up in that arrangement. She also took the time to brief us on what there is to see and do in Hobart and how to get to each location. Our luggage were taken up to our room for us. The room itself is very modern and the decor is impressive. There is ample and well positioned lighting throughout the main room and bathroom. The TV is ideally hung up on the way so that one can watch from the comfortable beds. All the amenities were generally adequate, including the various chairs, bar fridge, and electrical equipment. However, the pillow cases could have been a little bit cleaner. The bathroom was very neat and the water pressure perfect. There was also sufficient sound insulation. It is obvious the hotel has not skimped out on such things. Furthermore, unlike most hotels, there is free wi-fi, and although it is not the most stable internet around, it is quite reliable and fast. I doubt anyone would have any reason to complain given it is a complimentary service. Our room was on the third floor. However, the view was not exactly picturesque as our room was facing the rear of another shorter building. This was not an issue for us as there was plenty of sunlight to make up for the lack of views. Also, we were only the room at night - during the day we were out exploring hobart and other parts of Tasmania. Hotel Collins is very centrally located in the Hobart CBD. It is close to Salamanca Bay, local restaurants and cafe's, Woolworths, local pharmacies and newsagents, the information centre, and the ferry. For those who do not wish to dine out, the hotel does have it's own eatery. It is moderately priced, however, I can not comment on the quality of the food as I dined elsewhere. In our very short stay, we visited the Museum of Old and New Art (MONA), Richmond village, and Mount Wellington. The staff at the information centre were very helpful and obliging and the tour guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We would recommend all visitors to Hobart to visit these locations. Nearing our departure, the hotel staff confirmed our pick up location with Redline Tasmania. Whilst waiting, one can pass time in the business lounge, which is stocked with newspapers, a television, and free internet and printing services. Overall, Hotel Collins provided a most satisfying experience. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others wishing to stay in Hobart.
