This is a cheap hotel that could do with a makeover. It's about 10 minutes from main beach, so not a bad location.

Felt like I stepped back in time to another decade. Best thing was the location and price for parking our car.

What a disaster! This "hotel" (the term really does not apply) was difficult for our taxi driver to find. With no place to unload or drive up to, our driver had to pull around the corner and drop us off in an alley. No elevator, we had to lug our bags of a flight of stairs to enter the building. No rooms were ready and we were told to leave our bags and wander around for 5 - 6 hours before we could check in. Needless to say, we left without checking in or staying. Don't know what the rooms were like, but if the lobby (with no bathrooms, places to sit, dining facilities or any amenities) was any indication, they were small, filthy and unwelcoming. Avoid this nightmare at all costs.

No frills location. Family-owned and personable staff. This place is inexpensive and clean. The only thing is at night, it gets noisy from the traffic outside, but if you are tired enough, you'll sleep right through it. This hotel is only a block or two from all the action in Wakiki. Overall, not a bad place for the price.

The hotel value was hard to beat. The parking was pretty tight and scarce and there was no pool. Also the bathroom was beyond tiny. On the good side the hotel is centrally located and the views from the hotel balcony of the Ala Wai canal are gorgous. all and all i would recomend the hotel to someone who doesnt plan on spending much time in the room.

Recently renovated room complete with kitchenette, but bring your earplugs. Corner room on one of Waikiki's busiest commuter streets. Budget accomodations for those needing economy value. Not for those needing daily linen changes or a nice quiet sleeping environment. Friendly staff.

The staff was very friendly and the room was clean and fairly comfortable. The air conditioner was in a weird place and rattled the metal slats above it so it was pretty much unusable. I didn't stay in the room much so over all it was OK.

great hotel, not too fancy but it does need new furniture. most of the furniture is old, but if your not too picky it is a good hotel to stay @.

This is officially the worst hotel experience I have had in my entire life. Let me put this in to perspective for you. I have traveled all over Europe (only countries I have not been to are Greece and Portugal) and I have had the opportunity to travel through and stay in the former communist block (particularly East Germany, Czechoslovakia and Hungary) and I am horrified to say that the Holiday Surf Hotel is MUCH worse than the worst stay I had in any of these former communist countries (one hotel outside of Brno pretty close though). Let me also say that I did not expect to get a great hotel, nor did I expect to get a good hotel, but I did expect (judging from the pictures on [...], supplied by the Hotel I presume) to be a clean place to stay. We also, booked the entire package which included a car as well so location was certainly not the prime reason for booking this hotel as well. Once we arrived we checked in at the front desk which looked as you have walked into a very bad show from the early seventies and which probably is cleaned once a month. The guy working at the front desk checked us in and it later turned out was the manager of the hotel. We checked in late so by the time we entered the room the manager left and was no were to be seen after 10pm leaving us with no other option but to try to stay and make the best out of it that one night. The next morning we told the lady by the front desk that it was impossible to stay there for a number of reasons which I'm about to list out:1. very dirty room2. small and extremely dirty bathroom3. air conditioning did not work properly due to a bizarre window that I have never seen before in my life. The AC was located underneath this window which had strips of glass that could be opened for air to flow in and out. The problem was that this was impossible to fully close thus killing any benefit the AC would bring and worse made the noise from the outside traffic unbearable. Even after using silicon earplugs you could hear the traffic outside.4. One could smell mold all over the room and particularly in the bathroom.5. Last but not least the staff and management would not do anything to accommodate us after our complaint. In a nutshell, I have severe allergies and asthma which anybody with about two brain cells would figure out is not something you want to have come visit you on any given day and particularly not your vacation. Realizing that it would be impossible to stay in this hotel we tried to ask for a partial refund as we realize we had been give a discounted price (hard to imagine given what we saw) via [...]. We figured if we reason with the owner/manager he would give us a refund and we would move to another hotel. We went to another hotel and ended up paying about 25 bucks more than what was charged for the Holiday Surf Hotel but let me tell you what a difference it was seriously like night and day.The manager did not want to meet or speak with us giving us various excuses (taking his kids to swimming lessons etc) so I said we can drive to meet him as Oahu is not that big of an island I'm sure even if the kid was in North Shore we could be there in less than one hour to discuss like civilized people. [...] So we immediately checked out and told them they could charge us for 3 full days at the regular price as long as we got a refund. [...]was told it would take a little longer to deal with this as they had to discuss with the manager who finally said that we COULD NOT get a refund. As we had checked out he was now free to rent this out to someone else and make another 1000+ dollars from some other poor soul. In a nutshell, I think the Holiday Surf Hotel should be closed down based on health reasons and for bad business practices.[...] Please check out the web as I will ensure to spread the word of this experience and provide pictures that the public and future customers need to know before making the decision to stay here. I will ensure there are various places where

I spent the last 10 nights in Oahu, with five nights at the 5-star Waikiki Edition followed by five nights at the 2-star Holiday Surf Hotel, so I was able to see both sides of the spectrum. I really enjoyed my stay at Holiday Surf. The room was clean and the staff made the beds, provided new towels, and washed any dishes we left in the sink every morning. You can't beat the price: I paid under $60/night, and even with the $12.50/night extra they charge for parking (totally worth it), it is about as cheap as you will find in Waikiki. The staff was very friendly and the hotel is within walking distance of all of Waikiki. The only negative things I have to say are that they surrounding area can be a little sketchy, you get a lot of street noise, and the elevator did not always work. There are prostitutes that pick up clients along Kuhio Ave, and you get to chose between walking past them or walking past the homeless people who sleep along Ala Wai Blvd. I had booked a studio suite, but was upgraded at check-in to a one-bedroom apartment. We easily could have slept 5 people since there was a queen bed, a couch, and a twin bed with a pull out bed underneath. It reminded me of the cheap hotels I would stay in with my family growing up.

I was there visiting my daughter the hotel was a short walking distance from everywhere. I wasn't in the room much. The hotel staff were very nice & helpful. When i go back to visit my daughter I would stay there again. This hotel was very affordable.

The hotel was strategically located to my purpose of being there. However, the hotel appear not to be well taken of. It looks very old especially the materials inside the rooms. The air conditioner, the stove microwave refrigerator all need to be change. I found it difficult touching these, especially in a place where they expect you to cook.

HORRIBLE!!! Do not believe what they say in theor little paragraph above. The rooms are very outdated, dirty and have window air conditioners. The kitchenettes are old appliances. The parking is dispicable!! There is no place to park if you are driving anything larger than a compact car. They charge you to park in the "garage" and the alley. $12 a day!!! They charge for "free" wifi. We were afraid to do anything in the room because we feared other charges. there is also a $150 deposit they do not mention. [...]

The hotel was clean, but very old. Needs some refreshment. The room was very old too, and super noisy !!! We couldn't sleep well one night at least, in seven days. The crew seems to be bored. The hotel's place was good, if you like being in the city. It's closed from stores, the beach and night life. Would NOT recommend that place, but good quality/price.
