Holiday Inn San Diego On The Bay Hotel Guest Reviews
Tlhe hotel is about 2 blocks from the train tracks, and the rooms are not at all soundproofed. Which means the trains that run throughout the night and blow their horns sound like they are in your room. Bring good ear plugs but expect to lose some sleep. Being bay front may help with this. But more important, our safety lock didn't work. It appeared that the door had gotten out of alignment. They sent up an engineer, who said he would fix it next day. He didn't. We asked again and they said they send someone right up- no one ever came. The staff apologized, but It felt like our safety concerns were completely ignored. This was never fixed during our stay, and an alternative room was never offered. I've never written a review before, but this behavior prompted a review.

We arrived in the evening after dark. Very Little Lighting between buildings did not give us a secure feeling....when we arrived to our room...the key card did not work..20 minutes later security came and opened our door....blamed me for him having to come and open the door. Then room was not up-to-date...soiled carpets and mixed match furnishings...! Since one of the eleavators were closed for repair, assumed the area was being "re-done"! The next day...card was not working, since the replacement given last night was only set for one night and not the four nights we booked, another 20 minute wait to get into our room! I compared with the hotel for best price guareentee before booking, however, I am not sure that the Hotel honored my booking with respect ! This was not normal for this brand! The site looked better in the daylight, however, the service did not!

We were staying at the hotel for a week for my sons military graduation. Was very impressed with the hotel, very clean and nicely decorated. Enjoyed the stay. Close to everything downtown. The only negative was the parking fees, but seems most hotels do have that.

The location can't be beat! It's close to the water, the cruise ships, the train station and a quick cab ride to the Gas Lamp district. The cloud cover was thick the first night and the noise of the airport was a bit overwhelming, but it quieted down after that. It was worth paying a little more to have a bay view, though a request to be put on the highest floor possible yielded a 7 floor room. It was great to have a balcony to hang out on. I found some of the hotel staff to be unfriendly and less than helpful, and it took a bit of digging to figure out how to navigate the city.
