We were in the back building and it was a nightmare being so far away from the main building. There was no fridge in the room either. Room sub standard considering how much they charge for the room.

The cost is definitely a reflection of the great location. You are two blocks from the wharf and right on the trolley lines. Room was clean but average in its decor - I didn't and wouldn't have wanted to spend a lot of time in it. It was a little loud in the hallways in the evening with tourists stumbling back in after fun nights out. I would stay again if the price was right.

Perfect experience with a terrific location. Would stay again. Parking a bit pricey at 45 a night, but hey, it's the city!

This hotel was great for the price. It was located right a block away from Fisherman's Wharf and across the street from Hertz and Walgreens. The amenities were basic but everything was clean. The hotel staff did let us check in early, which was a huge plus so we didn't have to walk around with our bags! Our room was near the cable car, which was fine as well, and not loud throughout the night as another had said. Overall, I would stay at this hotel again due to the ability to walk anywhere from this location.

I paid a little extra for the Business level rooms. I'm guessing this made sure we were on the business floor in the main hotel and not down a few blocks like mentioned in other reviews. It was a nice room and clean. It had all you would expect/need (microwave, fridge, tv, wifi). The wifi was beyond slow which was disappointing for the business level. When I needed to look something up I ended up just using my phone as it was much quicker. We did have a issue where on the last night we were there we found a very large pair of men's underwear in our sheets. They definitely did not belong to us. I'm assuming they were washed up with the sheets and then got made up into the bed but it was disturbing all the same. Unfortunately, this is what we're going to remember from an otherwise lovely stay at this hotel. I'm not sure if we'll be able to stay there again. With that said, the hotel staff and service was very friendly and accommodating. We actually left one of our phones in the gift shop by accident. After calling them they found it and are shipping it to us. The location is within walking distance of everything at the Fisherman's Wharf which is very touristy and the food is overpriced and subpar. If you must eat there I'd suggest the Codmother which is just a little stand that sells fish and chips but the food is fresh, prepared perfectly, and the owner is great. One of the concierges suggested a seafood place within walking distance and it was pretty terrible. Do some research and plan on catching some transport to get good food. The hotel is also within walking distance (just a little over 4 blocks) from the part of Lombard Street that's famous for being curvy. The rest of the city you'll have to get some transport but there are plenty of options. There is a trolly hub a block or two from the hotel and you know you have to ride it at least once while there. It will take you past a few places (Lombard Street as mentioned above, Chinatown, union square). If you are going to make a few stops just get a full day trolley ticket as the tickets are only for one ride otherwise.

Centralized area, close to everything. Small, but nice workout area, and pool.

Close enough to the Wharf yet far enough from the hustle and bustle. Hotel is a bit dated but room was in good condition- clean bath, good housekeeping service, and friendly reception.

Place was us OK, the staff wasn't very friendly. Beware, if you are driving a car, it costs $45.00 a night to park in the hotel parking lot. Next time, we will check out parking charges ahead of time.

Great location, an easy stroll to Fishermans wharf and Golden Gate Bridge. Getting around San Francisco was easy with Muni services available close by to all the major tourist attractions including Coit Tower, Golden Gate Park and Union Square. Staff were very obliging and friendly.

We booked a room at Holiday Inn because it was more affordable (@ $190/night) than nearby Sheraton, Hilton, or even Holiday Inn Express. ($260, really? Isn't early November off-season?) The lobby smelled like musty cigarette smoke – which makes sense because this hotel is sooo old that it was definitely operating during the days of indoor smoking. Gross, but not a deal breaker. I didn't plan to spend much time in the lobby. The deal breaker was the dank smell of my over-priced, NON-smoking room. The stench was unreal. I'm a smoker and I couldn't even handle it. The best way I can describe it was a combination of stale smoke mixed with the dirty water smell of the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland. But that was just the beginning. The ceiling was literally falling down in one corner of the room near the window. And it was a popcorn ceiling, so I'm pretty sure that's an asbestos hazard. I don't even want to know what the big puddle stains were on the floor. The bed (also dusty), wasn't very comfortable either. Our window overlooked Leavenworth St. and The Parlor, which played booming music until last call. To be honest, this is my first hotel review. Ever. I've never written one because I've never stayed in a place SO bad that I felt compelled to warn others. And I have stayed in a lot of hotels. I suppose, if you have to choose this property due to budget reasons, ask the front desk to put you in a room away from Leavenworth. And bring some Febreeze. PS - the staff was nice. The poor facilities shouldn't reflect badly on them.

My wife and I were very disappointed upon arrival, after having been "dropped off" by the cab driver at the reception in the main building to be told that we then had to take all our luggage out of the hotel, along the main road (approx 300 yds) and then down a flight of steps to the adjoining building in order to get to our room and this after having completed a 10+ hours flight from England. Also having booked this hotel room at least six months prior we were given a room with a view of a blank wall. We thought we would either be in the main hotel area and also thought we would possibly have a view of some description, even if it wasn't over the Wharf itself.

Very Clean and nice but parking was expensive and the room was loud with street noise. Internet wireless worked at a snails pace. VERY SLOW, like 1/2 hour to get an email. Tech support was not very helpful.

The hotel is actually divided into 2 locations; we were on the Fisherman's Wharf/street location. It was the older location and did not have the pool at this one. The rooms were clean, and staff friendly. It had a very pricey Denny's for a restaurant. There was a great little restaurant across the street which had excellent breakfast sandwiches and lunches; only seats about 8 people but the service is very fast and he is very nice. The hotel is actually a great location: Ghiradelli's is only about 1/4 mile away, and Pier 29 about 1/3 mile away. The hotel has a room safe, beds were comfortable, and location actually was quiet at night.

The hotel is is a perfect location. There are parking lots around the hotel and it may be cheaper than paying to park in the hotel lot which was kind of pricy. If you're not planning on leaving San Francisco, a car really isn't necessary. There's a lot to do and a lot to see! I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great location. You are right in the Fisherman's Warf. The staff at Denny's inside the hotel were so friendly and remembered us day to day. The hotel staff were also very friendly and I felt I could have asked for anything and they would have helped me. Our luggage was lost for the first 2 days and we bought basic supplies before we got to the hotel. When we arrived in our room we discovered they would have provided complimentary toothbrush, toothpaste, razors etc. I wish I would have realized that before. That is so nice that they would have offered that too.

I thought this hotel was in a prime spot close to Fisherman's Wharf, a short walk to Coit Tower and several other prime locations of interest. Parking is expensive at hotel if you need a car in the city for any out of town drives. May want to look into nearby parking garages. There was a parking garage right behind the hotel. We didn't look into the cost since we had already paid for a spot at the hotel. We didn't use our car while visiting San Fran, but did use it to go to Sausalito and surrounding areas.
