Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Minneapolis-Downtown Convention Centre Guest Reviews
The wireless didn't work at the hotel, and when I asked the front desk about it, I was given a tech support phone number. After waiting on hold with tech support and dealing through things with them, I was told they don't deal with the wireless service and it is an issue for the hotel staff to fix. When I called the front desk back, I was told there was nothing he could do about it and I would have to talk to someone the next day, when I would be checking out. My entire trip and reason for staying in the hotel in the first place was for work that required use of the Internet. My old laptop has a bad NIC card, so wireless was my only option. I ended up having to use my 3G phone. Also, the travel site I booked with (this review site prevents me from naming them, but since you are here at their site you know who I'm talking about) doesn't mention that you have to pay for parking at this hotel, which no longer made them the cheapest option I could have chosen. The hotel staff was not concerned that parking rates aren't mentioned on "this travel booking site." They just blame the "3rd party" without recognizing the fact that they are gaining from doing business with this "3rd party." Overall, I wasn't impressed.

This experience was so great I'm thinking about switching back to Holiday Inn for my business trips. This place was better than most of Courtyard I've been using lately.

I'm a bit torn for this review - the room was immaculate and well maintained, breakfast was great, and the staff was friendly but parking was a major hassle. There is room for perhaps 12-16 cars and its first-come first-served. When I tried to park, the lot was full so I had to back my car into oncoming traffic (the hotel is at the end of a freeway off-ramp, so it was difficult to back out and then cross three lanes to the parking ramp across the street.) The parking ramp has no elevator so I had to schlepp luggage up three flights of stairs. Upon checking in, the internet service was extremely slow although the next morning it was zippy. If I was arriving by taxi and walking, I would gladly stay here again but not if I have to park a car.

The hotel was neat and clean with limited parking. There is a parking lot across the street that is convenient too. We enjoyed the proximity to restaurants, theatre and sporting venues. We didn't eat the hotel breakfast so I can't comment on it. I was disappointed in the poor internet service and lack of help from the hotel staff.

I was in town for a conference and this hotel was close to the site and way less expensive than the conference hotel. Room was nice, internet worked, breakfast had a nice variety of tasty stuff. Also within walking distance to lots of nice shops, etc. I took the light rail/bus from the airport to and fro, $1.75 each way, can't beat that. If I go to Minneapolis again I would definitely stay here!
