Great location, right off the Torre Pines Golf course, great views. 10 minutes from Del Mar or downtown La Jolla. Hotel staff was courteous, very friendly and helpful. Hotel dining was relaxed and comfortable, good food. Only negative was the cleaning staff knocked on our door at 8AM Monday morning. Thought they could have started cleaning the rooms the guest had checked out of first.

Went to San Diego on vacation in the Torrey Pines area. Didn't golf, but the view of the golf course from the decks and pool area is quite nice. A couple of issues while we were there. First, the parking lot (which you have to pay for) is lined extremely small. Most of the spaces on the first level say 'compact' car... but nobody follows those rules and there are SUVs and larger cars all over the place and the spots are EXTREMELY tight. Given that you're paying a decent amount a day for parking... I'd think they could line it a bit wider. Plus, aside from the golf course, it's not like you're downtown... so don't know why they charge for parking in the first place. As for the room... the first one we were given was on the 2nd level (actually down from the lobby which is on the 3rd level). This is actually even with all the tops of the palm trees... which wouldn't be bad except for the fact that the trees are extremely close to the decks on that level... such that it was actually hard to walk onto the deck without running into the frons of the palm trees at our room. We asked to move and they did move us. But would try to avoid that floor. Rooms are ok... not great, not bad.. standard fare. The hallways are a bit musty and seem a bit dated... the lobby area is quite nice. Also... one time when they made up our room... they left us with only one large towel for the next day. That next morning when we realized that, we called to ask for another towel. After no towel showing up for 20 minutes, I went out into the hallway where I saw a room service cart and couldn't get the attention of the person cleaning the room so took a towel off the cart. When I went up front, I heard someone saying on the radio that they were having a towel shortage... which I can understand. But would've liked a little better service time when asking for towels in the morning since not having one made us a little later in leaving that day. The only other issue we had was we asked for a late checkout and were given a little bit of a hard time about that. They said we could stay an extra hour and after that would have to pay for another full day -- a little harsh after we'd been there for 5 days. If you like hiking, biking, surfing or, of course, golfing.. it's a great area and Del Mar is a short drive away as well. There's also the gliderport nearby that can be fun if you like hang-gliding. Would recommend hiking down to the beach and walking around there as well.

Overall we had a great experience. We originally were scheduled to stay in a handicapped accessible room, but they moved us to a room that more suited our needs. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was clean. The only downer (the reason for the four star rating) was the spa. They don't really have a spa. Just a hotel room that they call the spa. When I stay at more upscale accommodations, I expect a true spa experience. Other than that, great location, great view. I would stay here again!!!
