The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The staff was very nice. The problems: 1. I had a problem with the toilet called it in, they said engineer is on the way - never came. 2. Transportation is good to jfk and back (they have a shuttle twice an hour), but anywhere else...good luck even a taxi you need to order in advance. And there is nothing to eat in walking distance except the hotel restaurant. Took me 1:40 to get from the hotel to manhattan. Take the shuttle to jfk then air train to jamaic and subway tomanhatta.

in and around JFK you're not going to find much in terms of an excellent place to stay. The Hilton Garden Inn is competent, particularly if you're just staying for a single night. Clean, somewhat comfortable with free wifi. Beyond that, it leaves a little to be desired.

I stayed overnight as I had an early morning flight from JFK. I arrived late (close to midnight) and had no problems with the staff checking in, despite the hour. The hotel was quiet, clean and comfortable. The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle to the airport that runs on the half hour. It was very convenient.

I was delighted with this hotel and would stay there again. In the past I have stayed at a couple of other brand name hotels at JFK and was disappointed with each of them. This HGI was a real contrast. It was much cleaner and the staff were genuinely helpful which is quite an achievement for such a busy location. They went out of their way to be helpful and were efficient and kind. The transport from the airport was way better, faster and friendlier, than at a hotel of comparable price on a previous occasion.

The shuttle bus took 40 minutes to collect us from the airport after calling them for pick up. It was a Sheraton bus with a small note in the side window saying Hilton on it...very hard to see so may have missed previous busses. We had to cram in, with passengers sitting on each others laps to fit everyone in. Very crowded and uncomfortable( and dangerous). On arrival the hotel was full and had to wait a good 15 minutes for them to find room by then the restaurant had closed (10:30pm) and room service was not available. Had to call in Pizza and wait 40 minutes to collect it in foyer. Another couple trying to check in were very upset that despite booking a non smoking room months ago only smoking rooms were available. They were very irate. The beds looked like they hadn't been made as doonas very lumpy.They were disgusting. The room was very old and run down. Could not recommend this hotel to anyone. Bad start to our NY holiday

A little hard to find from the airport! Room and welcome excellent- fresh baked cookies at front desk. Room excellent. Our only gripe was the service in the restaurant in the evening which was poor. Excellent breakfast which was included.
