Hilton Curacao Resort Willemstad

Definitely rent a car, not because you are not near anything but because the Island deserves to be explored. The hotel staff was excellent (all smiles and waves, a definite asset to whoever owns this hotel) from the front desk to theexecutive lounge staff to the cleaning service. They work very hard with what they have, which is an old unmaintained hotel. We were told it was not owned by Hilton and Hilton didn't put any money into it but the corporation that now owned it was about to put up some money for the much needed renovations.Our bathroom was a nightmare. The restaurant staff was another story, The bar was OK a few of the bartenders were great and paid a lot of atention, others not so attentive and at times preoccupied flirting ith the visiting soccer team. They missed our order 3 out of 3 meals and the check was wrong to boot. One night our waitress (at Aqua) was very rude when we pointed out the mistakes and brought out the manager. They left and had a discussion. When she returned she said the meal was done (on the house) my wife explained we didn't want or need a free meal and would like a bill for what we ate and drank. The waitress then closed her eyes and pointed out of the restaurant and said "just go, get out" very wierd night. With athe few misgivings I was still happy to stay here and would recommend it to a friend with some advise on how to get the most out of the stay.
