Hilton Boston/Dedham Guest Reviews (5)
Outside convention season this business-oriented Hilton was a good deal for visiting family in the W. Roxbury area. A downside are the very thin walls between rooms. Not much the staff can do about that, though it was an unpleasant evening for a pregnant (and sick) wife & toddler awakened at 3:45 a.m. by mysterious loud banging next door, followed not long after by repeated phone ringings next door which were quite audible in our room. (Our phone also rang unexpectedly during naptime, though no one was there when we picked up.) A relic of the type of construction in the era in which this hotel was built (70s? early 80s?).

We have always enjoyed very much our stay at this Hilton where we've had several family gatherings. This time was especially good as the hotel offers multiple amenities and the staff is friendly and efficient. Meals taken here were very good, especially breakfast. We were also helped when we wanted to order delivery from outside the hotel. And the pool was warm enough for our grandkids to swim in!

The room I had did not have a mini refridgerator, the coffee maker did not work, the phone didn't work and the toilet was clogged on arrival. I had to go the the front desk and complain twice to get the phone and toilet fixed. The Starbucks in the Lobby area is only open during the week days and not on the weekends. No comp bottles of water and the vending machine was out of bottled water the entire 3 days. The breakfast is over priced and less than marginal. I had pancakes and they tasted as if an entire bottle of vanilla flavoring fell in the batter. I expected much better from a Hilton.

My room was comfortable, quiet (except for the white noise of the heating/ac system), and private. The bed was totally conducive to rest and relaxation. Staff were unfailingly courteous, helpful and eager to please.

We arrived in Boston from Charlotte NC. The agenda was to staying in Boston for several days, then ride the Northwest Amtrack up to Maine for the remainder of our trip. We arrive in Boston, where we are greated with the news that our hotel is 25-30 miles away and there is no public tranportation which reaches our hotel, except a taxi- $40-50.00/tab. Having vacationed in New York, Washington.....I assumed Boston would have better public transportation~ wrong. Had to rent a car....first oops. The car, Nisson cost $400.00 for 3 days! Not only that, when you are visiting the Boston city, you have to pay at least $30.00/day to park. In large having the car added an addition $600.00 to our bottom line expense. Now the hotel, our room was on the 1 floor. Not bad, except the 1st floor is really the basement. Yes, basement; lobby is on floor #2. The room was nice, clean.....however, the heat/ac made the loud roar sound (jet engine noise). Phoned the front desk, very helpful. The clerk sent the mechanic, who promptly stated there was no way to fix the problem and we needed a new room. The mechanic phoned the front desk giving the desk clerk the verdict. We were told by the mechanic arrangments would be made and we would be contacted. We waited............., finally we went up to the front desk. We mentioned to the desk clerk that we were waiting on a new room since our heat/ac was roaring loudly. We were then told there were no rooms~ we had a king size bed, and all that was left were doubles. Recap: we had just spent $400.00 on a rental car, our room is in the basement and now we must give up our King bed for two doubles. :( Not happy campers......in exchanged we were given two tickets for two daily breakfast. Prior to us leaving, we did find out we could have used their shuttle to get to a train which would have taken us to the airport. At the airport the subway could have been reached....and saved us $$$....no one at the hotel bothered to tell us that, which would have allowed us to return the car eariler. Bummer! Pay more $$ for a room closer into Boston upfront, you will save money from not having to rent/park a car.
