Hilo Seaside Hotel

The room was very comfortable and clean. Staff very friendly but they seem to lack knowledge of local tourist spots and directions to shops etc. A local phone call is 50cents per call regardless of the length of the phone call. Toll free numbers also incur a local call charge. I made 2 local phone calls and 2 calls to a toll free number but I got charged over $40. The staff did not seem to know why the calls were all different prices but at the end after I explained and gave them the details of the toll free numbers, they agreed to void the charges and charged me the $2 for the 4 phone calls. Other than that our stay was comfortable and enjoyable.

I got a room overlooking the pond. The room was fairly quiet. I had an LCD cable TV with lots of channels. Also had a refrigerator. No microwave. Parking was free. Location was ideal for visiting the volcanoes. Attached restaurant had reasonable prices.Room service was fine. Only negative was that I had to pay $25 for one week of internet. The signal was weak and the best download speed was only 60 kps.

We spent three weeks here last year and loved it. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful, the restaurant is nice with a good salad bar and friendly waitpersons, the rooms are comfy, and the location is super especially if you're a walker. No high paced tourist hype, this is the place to relax, eat well, get some sun, exercise, and catch up on your reading and knitting. Reasonable enough to extend your stay, and worth it. Low key, what a vacation should be.

It has got to be tough to run a hotel in Hilo during rainy season. This was a good location and friendly staff, but the musty moldy smell of damp carpeting is really annoying to those of us with allergies. Appeared clean otherwise. Maybe a tile floor would have helped. Wait staff in restaurant were very good

Wonderful staff, convenient location, good value. Only draw back is the decor which is funky - ranges from 50's (lobby furniture) to 80's (bedspread, room carpets)

Great value. One-story hotel looks like something out of the 60's. Very well maintained and clean with helpful, friendly staff. Owned by a Hawaiian family. Beautiful interior courtyards with lush foliage.

The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the complimentary breakfast was really good. A full breakfast, not just a continental breakfast. Their restaurant was good, too, and reasonable priced with prompt friendly service. My only complaint would be that there was no free internet access. Other than that, it was great!

Staff was helpful and very courteous. The price is right. It is Hawaii and your not in the hotel your out and about. Pool is fun. Very close to airport, shopping, and to Hilo itself. This is not a 5 star hotel but then if you looking for that, you should not stay here. My second time for biz and I felt very welcome.

This hotel, while dated, has been kept up very well. Small but comfortable rooms with cute little lanais, microwave, and coffee pot (with complimentary coffee every day!) was very pleasing to us. Service was excellent. Staff were all very friendly and helpful when asked questions. Included breakfast was really a great asset, as you have three great selections to choose from, which includes coffee, tea, or juice. A great value! We would definitely stay here again!

The staff here was amazing, very friendly and knowledgeable. Gave us some great tips in dealing with the rental car companies that saved us a couple hundred dollars during our week stay. (Even made a couple of the calls themselves). Great location on the Hilo water front. The rooms weren't anything special but I didn't do anything but sleep in the room anyway. Feels like you are staying with family (without all the arguments).

This is a delightful, quaint hotel. The grounds are beautiful. It's on the bay, so the view is wonderful. It's not fancy; but clean and well maintained. Service is good. I loved my stay at Hilo Seaside Hotel. The attached restaurant, Coconut Grill, is also very good.
