Heythrop Park Resort Hotel Oxford
3.8 out of 5

Whilst the rooms in the main building are only comfortable, the surroundings and the charm of this former manor house are worth a visit. The buffet breakfast was very good. The resort is a bit out of the way, and you need to eat there or drive in to a nearby village. Service in the bar was underwhelming.

The setting is magnificent, ideal for walking, sightseeing and of course golf. The service, however, left a lot to be desired. We arrived after 10pm, and it took over half an hour to check in - guys on the desk had no idea how to use the computer system, and we were left standing around whilst they tried to figure it out. Also, our room (standard) really was pretty basic; the website shots show the most expensive and exclusive rooms. The remainder are small with pretty tacky furniture, a none too comforatble bed and limited tv choice. Breakfast excellent. A bit overpriced for what it was, but you pay for the setting.

I stayed for one night last year. and was very pleased with the accomodation. This year stayed again for one night, but was put in a much smaller room in a different wing, this having been newly re painted and there was a very strong smell of paint and varnish. The full english breakfast could have been hotter. I am not however put of from returning, because of the special price received. But I would definitely not be happy if i had paid the full price

A lovely location in it's own large grounds, but easy enough to get around by road. The house & grounds are amazing & when the golf course & spa area are open, it will be a superb facility. We stayed in a standard room, which for the price was great value & suitable for our needs.

Magnificent building and grounds. A chance to stay at and look through an outstanding country estate. It was difficult to find at night.

Excellent value late deal, although I was concerned by some of the previous reviewers comments the Falcon annexe proved in reality to have excellently proportioned well maintained rooms and felt secure - only gripes being that the plumbing was a tad slow and no bath - but good sized shower I would guess that the rooms in the main old house section are amazing. Breakfast (included in deal) rated highly - wish the weather had been better to explore the extensive gardens. Large complex with the main house directly accessible from the annex rooms. Golf course closed - under construction so hotel relatively quiet - grab a bargain while you can - (paid about £33 per person per night) Did not have chance to view pool or other leisure activities but what we saw was fantastic and different - real stately home feel !

Good value at the 'Special Offer' price Help in finding accomodation block (remote from main reception building) when arriving late at night could be improved

A hybrid between Country House Hotel, Golf Club and Wedding Venue. None of these quite integrate properly. Stay in the main house if you can afford it - huge rooms, nicely done. At heart a grand country house this place was a corporate weekend retreat for NatWest Bank in the 1970's and 80's, so there are acres of conference suites and classrooms attached. There seemed to be a white tie Oxford University bash in progress when we came back in the evening which was decorative, your bad luck if you get a noisy sales conference.

Breathtaking situation for a hotel, a wonderful location with views of the Cotswolds, food and service excellent, will visit again.

This is a conference venue and has many average rooms. If you want a 'country house' experience make sure you are booking into the main house. The gym could do with an overhaul of all equipment.

This hotel is set on a sprawling estate near Oxford. The hotel itself is huge and seemed to be in the process of being spruced up - though it was perfectly acceptable. The restaurant is good and the staff very helpful. Recommended. (And while you are there, make sure you visit Blenheim Palace, just up the road.)

We were extremely disappointed by the hotel's cleanliness and wouldn't recommend opting for the Falcon Suite option unless you want to stay in conditions similar to student halls! This said, the main building is fantastic and had a nice bar and an excellent breakfast.

this hotel is ok as long as you know what to expect. Poor staff, certainly don't eat there - mainly a conference or wedding venue. Great location and beautiful grounds though.

Nearly all Polish staff - which spoilt it - bar staff amazing slow and did not understand, and unfriendly which was probably due to the language barrier. Reception staff helpful and made the difference. Felt a lack of security most of the time

Fantastic building and grounds. The main hassle was that we had no towels in the room. We kept asking reception for them, but didn't get them until yet another reminder in the morning. The receptionists seemed understaffed and overworked. They tried their best and were friendly. Room facilities were slighlty disappointing considering the price of the hotel.

On the plus-side a beautiful location set in woodland with lakes and gardens. Fantastic swimming pool, ample parking, lovely breakfast. However, if you're staying in the Falcon wing, be prepared for a disappointment especially after seeing the lovely main house. Hairdryer in room didn't work and even though we contacted reception twice during our stay (who promised to replace it), it never got replaced. Staff at reception seemed harrassed and they didn't receive our booking from rates-to-go meaning we almost had to be moved to another hotel nearby.

we only stayed for one night as we needed to go elsewhere the following morning. we booked one of the standard rooms, it was very nice, comfortable beds, clean bathroom. i wasn't dissapointed for the price i paid at all. however, i would highly recommend to anyone to stay at the main house, the main house looked more stylish and definitely worth the money.
