We stopped on our way fr Phx to LA, hotel staff friendly, room clean, free breakfast good. The only thing negative was the air conditioner, it was so loud and we had to keep in on all night due to high temps in desert.

This is the second time we have stayed here this year. I chose to try this place again because the rooms are clean and the staff is professional and polite and when traveling with children it is sometimes best to stick with the familiar. During our first stay a few months prior I thought the air conditioning unit was loud but tolerable and it did not bother my child but this time I almost switched rooms. When the unit would turn on while my child was trying to sleep he would wake up and put his hands over his ears until I turned it off. I makes me wonder if they took the air conditioning units out of some old, run-down motel and put them in this place when it was being built. Our room was too warm to not have the air on since it was the middle of June and 108 degrees. I didn't have this issue during our first stay so I suspect some rooms have louder conditioning units than others. If the unit had completely disrupted my son's sleep I would have tried to switch rooms or hotels altogether. There's no reason in this day and age that those units need to be so loud.

I cannot say enough good about our 6 day stay at the Hampton Inn. Each staff member we encountered was professional, helpful, and cheerful. Great breakfasts, exercise room, jacuzzi, internet... Arriving home after our trip we found we had left a large bag of dirty clothes in our room. I called the hotel and they offered to ship it to us. If I am ever in Palm Desert again I will definitely be staying at the Hampton Inn.
