Hampton Inn San Diego Downtown Guest Reviews
Check in easy and fast, very personable staff, very helpful. Walk to shio terminal to check it out but shuttle took us to the port with the bags. Walked to Little Italy for something to eat, easy walk and great after a long flight. We did hear trains but not as bad as I thought.

For the money, the Hampton was a great deal...nice room, great breakfast, excellent location to see the wharf and Maritime Museum. Convenient to the trolley that took us downtown--also easy to get to Old Town. Staff was great...friendly and helpful. Downsides: parking is very tight in the small garage and the train noise can be distracting for someone who isn't into trains. Overall, a nice stay.

Room was disappointing. Although very clean and large enough, there was no closet to hang clothes which I never seen anywhere before, and no vanity in the bathroom, only a small metal shelf reminiscent of a dormitory.Constant train traffic from both Amtrac and the MTS made sleeping difficult. Although hotel needs improvement, the staff could not have been more helpful and friendly. Kudos to the management for training and attitude.

Overall very good. Great staff and service. Great location (except nearby trains a bit noisy). Hotel's free shuttle was much appreciated. Would certainly stay there again if/when we return to San Diego.
