Green Lake Hotel Kunming Guest Reviews
The staff were generally delightful, English not so good and some of the information they supplied regarding local area was not so good, BUT probably the best location and the best hotel in the city. The food in the restaurant (only western was open late) was average, they got the order wrong and it was horrendously expensive. Breakfast was excellent. Stayhere- its worth the frustrations ! Room well equiped, shower a bit dated, but good enough for a couple of nights.

As far as service, facilities, english speaking staff, amenities and overal awe you get just walking around the place, this hotel exells beyond Grand Park Hotel (formerly Harbour Plaza) in Kunming. Grand Park still has the best buffet for lunch and dinner. Its only a 10 minute walk or a short cab ride around the beatiful lake. The staff treated us with great care, and gave us flowers and a bowl of fruit when they found out it was our anniversary. They thought of so many details including writing down the taxi plate on a slip and handing it to us as we left the hotel (in case anything were to be accidentally left in the cab). The room we stayed in (Bus Lux) was incredible. It had an amazing view of the lake. The bed was so comfortable you can't imagine for China. Two tv's, two showers, tropical rain shower head and there was even a speaker for the tv and dvd system hooked up into the bathroom so you could listen to BBC or CNN while taking a bath.

Another building was on construction. I want to stay at this hotel again after complete.

Much better than I expected, a first class hotel with a good free breakfast buffet and a pretty location on the city''s central park and lake. The room was large and nice, with all amenities provided. A really good value at US$37 per night.

For a 5 star hotel, it is lacking in its restaurants. Both Chinese restaurants we patronised did not give good quality nor good value despite their glamorous advertisements within the hotel. Also, the hotel is extremely quiet with lots of dark corners. The room staff however, were very good.
