General Information
A diminutive gem in the Aegean Sea, Greece's Paros offers relative tranquil escape from some of the more infamous party islands in the Cyclades. A popular hotspot nonetheless, Paros is less hectic than Mykonos or Ios but still offers a lot for visitors to enjoy. A short hop from the port of Piraeus, Paros is a favorite with avid wind and kite-surfers and indeed, beach lovers on the whole. With less than 13,000 people, about half of whom reside in or near the town of Parikia, Paros is small. As the capital, Parikia is where most of the action on Paros takes place and has a lot of charm, with narrow, cobblestone streets and a typical blue and white townscape. Panagia Ekatontapiliani, or “Church of 100 Doors”, is a must-see attraction. Built in the 6th century, the Byzantine church is a marvel.
