Naxos Island Hotels

One advantage of Naxos, at least for some, is that unlike Santorini or Ios for example, the local economy is heavily reliant on agricultural and less so on tourism. As a result, island-hoppers may find the beaches and small towns less overrun than other destinations in the Cyclades. The temple entrance of the old city, or Portara, is the most indelible landmark on Naxos. Other ancient points of interest include the Cave of Zeus, Temple to Demeter, Bazeos Castle and Kouros. At just under 1,000 metres high, Mount Zas is the most prominent peak in the Cyclades, with an inherent micro-climate that differs greatly from the idyllic confines of Plaka Beach, Kastraki Neach and Agios Georgios Beach, to name a few.
