Milos Island General Information
The Cyclades island group is one of the most popular holiday destinations in Europe, let alone Greece and the Aegean Sea. Visitors who set off from the Athens passenger port city of Piraeus to explore the archipelago have a wide variety of targets to choose from. From party and nightlife hubs to upscale resorts, UNESCO World Heritage Sites to tranquil, bucolic asylums, the island group is eminently eclectic. ... Read more »
Milos, once known as Melos or Malos, is a diminutive gem in the Cyclades chain. While less popular with mainstream tourists than Santorini, Ios, Naxos and Mykonos, those in the know covet the island’s gorgeous coastline, which contains no less than seventy beaches in total. Some lure more sun, sand and surf lovers than others but happily, even in peak season, the island unfurls dozens of relatively quiet spots, most notably on the east and west coasts. With a worthwhile museum and some archaeological sites of note, the best of Milos resides in a tidy collection of small island hamlets and traditional restaurants and tavernas. Needless to say, those seventy or so beaches and the pristine Mediterranean climate on Milos Island certainly rank as supreme draws as well.
