Lesvos Island is the third biggest island in Greece, located in the northeastern Aegean Sea. It is close to Turkey and separated by the Mytilini Strait. The island is covered in both forests and mountains, the tallest of which are Mount Olympus and Mount Lepetymnos. The poet Sappho hailed from this island and her female empowering poems have drawn large crowds of lesbian travellers to its shores. There are plenty of taxicabs and buses on Lesvos Island, but many people just choose to hike between villages, as it is easy to get around by foot.
