Porto Carras is the most famous resort in the peninsula and set the standard for subsequent tourist development in Halkidiki more more than three decades ago. The small village of Neos Marmaras provides visitors with one authentic point of interest nearby. Halkidiki is full of tradition in that regard, from Toroni to Agios Nikolaos, Polygyros to Kassandra.
