The Grassmarket Hotel is excellently situated for those wishing to enjoy a city break. The Grassmarket area of the city, named after an ancient market place, is as bustling as ever with its pubs, cafes, restaurants, shopping facilities and nightlife. The hotel is a short distance from all Edinburgh's major attractions - Edinburgh Castle is just across the road, Princes Street Gardens is adjacent to the hotel as well as The Scottish National Portrait Gallery and the National Museum of Scotland.

Location
The central location of the Grassmarket Hotel means it is also just minutes away from convenient transport links including Edinburgh Waverley Station, and at nearby Princes Street visitors can access all the city centre buses.

Rooms
There are 45 soundproofed rooms at the Grassmarket, each equipped with flat-screen plasma TV, a direct dial telephone, plus tea and coffee making facilities. Rooms higher up have attractive views over the market square.

Restaurant
Biddy Mulligan's, next door- and one of Edinburgh's oldest pubs - invites visitors to enjoy a traditional Scottish breakfast, and guests are welcome to dine here during their stay. In the evenings a drink in the pub bar whilst chatting to locals is a fitting end to a day of sightseeing.

General
Free wireless Internet access and a 24 hour front desk are just some of the facilities on offer at the friendly Grassmarket Hotel Edinburgh.

Stayed here recently an couldn't fault anything. It is a boutique hotel with lots of cool features: iPod dock for in roof speakers Magnetic wall map of Edinburgh Dandy magazine wal paper We stayed on the 5th floor (lift only goes to 4th floor) was good exercise :-), great views and location. Would definitely stay here again

The hotel was very shabby and must be due for decorating!!! reception, certain staff could and should be more friendly and give customers information on the events and features of Edinburgh!! Useful if you are not a local to Scotland!! The food in the pub next door is good however the portions could be more generous! The noise coming from this was loud and if staying at the front would be uncomfortable however it rained so this was helpful as we stayed at the front.

A perfect hotel for a stay in Edinburgh. Nice and friendly personal and a nice clean room (no 401) for a cheap price. The room was close to the elevator, but we nerver heard any noice from it. Even the location is very good (close to the royal mile and Edinburgh castle). Would gladly recommend it to anyone is going to visit Edinburgh!

Hotel is located in a very central area. Rooms are a little bit small though but very clean and comfartable. For the price you are paying I think this hotel is a great deal. Will definately stay there again the next time I am In Edingburgh

I have read a few reviews regarding this hotel, to be honest i was worried when i got there! I was pleasantly surprised! The hotel was spotlessly clean, we ended up with a triple for the price of a twin...so their was loads of room. My only complaint would be that the room was very warm! Just typical British hotels where there usually isnt the need for AC. The roadway was a bit noisy when the windows were open..but Hey what do you expect its a busy city!

Very helpful and friendly staff. Close to the Royal Mile and the busy historic centre. The location was close to good cheap food outlets and the pub downstairs served adequate meals. The only complaint I have are the number of staircases to reach my top floor room as the lift only went up 2 floors. The staff were helpful in getting an old lady's luggage up the stairs and moved me as soon as possible. Will stay there again!

A nice clean hotel in the heart of the Grassmarket. It wasn't too noisy and very reasonably priced. Would stay again.

Hotel gone downhill. Stayed here before and felt it was an OK hotel. I returned recently for a second time and my room (304) was pretty grubby and very very small. The double bed barely fitted into the space with about a foot between the bed and the walls to shuffle along. En-suite toilet also very small and not very nice, the view from the window was forgettable and even getting to the room was a slog. The only saving grace was that the bed linen was clean. I won't be back again.

A basic hotel for a basic price. Located close to the city centre with an Irish Pub attached. Room sizes vary, and pending on floor, the pub noise may be audible. Breakfast is served in the pub at a reduced price for hotel guests. There are also plenty of restaurants and coffee shops around the Grassmarket. We enjoyed our stay and would come back!
