Grande Hotel de Paris

Overall my stay at this hotel was fine. However, know that this is in a noisy area of town with a fair amount of nightlife so if you are a light sleeper this may not be the place for you. I had stayed across town during a group tour and then transfered to this hotel after the tour was over. The room and bathroom were spotless. After getting over a bit of a misunderstanding when I tried to confirm my room, the staff was friendly. My room did not have a refrigerator which I had become accustomed to, but aside from that I didn't find anything lacking. Good breakfast spread as well.

A very clean, old fashioned hotel with lots of charm and interesting old furniture and equipment dotted about. Not for those who revel in plastic 5* establishments. Breakfast was regularly replenished and there was plenty to choose from. We were a group of 5 who were stranded in the May 2010 "ash cloud" and the staff could not have been more helpful. Rooms were made available at acceptable rates when we could not fly home - no rip off merchants here. A most acceptable hotel - rated by travellers who have been using [website] for around 7 years.

Very old hotel and elevator seldom worked; inconvenient with heavy luggage. Room very small. Breakfast room was charming and food average.

Very good, like last year. I have only one remark. Breakfast on the 24th of June could be extended, because it's the day after the Festas de Sao Joao, and everybody has been partying all night long.

Very central to walking around Porto. Lovely breakfast. Only luke warm water if you plan to shower at night. Morning shower much better.

Small and a bit worn out rooms, but very clean. Great breakfast restaurant and a lovely quiet garden in the middle of the old town. It is not recommended to drive a car to the hotel, as it is almost impossible due to lack of parking places and a maze of one way streets.

Good old-fashioned hotel in the center of Porto. You can have breakfast in the garden. The computer in the lobby is also very old.

The hotel has character and many original features. Unfortunately, the original features includes the plumbing that can be occassionally noisey. It is superbly situated in the centre of Porto so it is easy to walk to many of the attractions. It is also well placed for bus, metro and trains. The attitude of the hotel staff varies from very helpful to downright rude. That aside, this hotel does represent good value for monely for a short break.

An excellent value hotel smack in the middle of the historical centre of Porto. Not the most luxurious hotel I've ever stayed in but was clean and the service was very good. Helping us find a great restaurant at 11pm was no problem, nor was any other request for help. All in all I would happily stay there again

This is really an excellent place to stay in Porto - very easy access to all sites of interest by foot. Public transportation and trains are close, so you can travel all around. A very tasty warm breakfast in the morning in the pleasant atmosphere can not be overestimated:) We would definitely stay in the same place if we will have a chance to come back some day.

The first-floor room we had was a bit basic (though fine for a two-star hotel) but the location right near the main square and the price make this an excellent choice. The hotel has a great old-world atmosphere and the breakfast room is magnificent - full 19th C decor and a lovely little garden just off with several more breakfast tables. We had a quiet room at the back but there was no a/c, which with a summer temperature of over 30 degrees made it a bit hot at night. Otherwise, we were delighted.
