We loved our vacation at the Grand Velas!!!! The room was very spacious and perfect for a family of four. There was a separate bedroom so when we woke up, we were able to go into another room while the others were still sleeping. The room was extremely clean and well maintained. The only problem with the room is that we were directly over the lobby bar and it was noisy with music playing into all hours of the night. I suggest when checking in to make sure that you are not directly over the lobby bar. We were on the 4th floor and the music was still very loud. The service was fabulous and everyone went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. They would clean your sunglasses at the pool, offer you cold towels and bring by ice cream throughout the day. The food was delicious and there were a variety of options. They also accommodated any and all special requests and we even loved the room service menu. We have 2 kids that enjoyed the activities on the property especially beach and water volleyball. The kids club seemed to be geared for younger kids; however, my kids (ages 9 and 10) enjoyed playing xBox when they needed a break from being outside. They also offered group soccer, dodgeball and football games later in the afternoon and my kids seemed to enjoy the organized team sports as well. We loved our stay. Our only comments would be that the hotel needs to have more activities for families to do at night. Besides going to dinner, there really weren't any organized night time activities for all of us to do. We would go to dinner and then end up back in our room immediately after. Also, they need to have more of a variety of activities during the day especially for kids that are ages 10-15. Some pool/beach contests or even basketball nets in the pool with organized games would be a great addition to the kids program.
