Grand Royale London Hyde Park Hotel

When booking they charged Taxes etc, and when we booking in to hotel they charged £10 for admin, breakfast was an extra £12 each and was of poor quality. Room was very small, bathroon sink leaked, If I had known I would have booked one of the two nearby Thistle hotels which probably have worked out to be a similar price but much better standard. Rip off hotel!

I'm a business traveller and like to be in the Paddington or Earls Court for their connection to everywhere in London. I was supposed to be in this hotel, but at arrival was told that the hotel has some plumbing problems (sure - they meant to say: we overbooked our capacity) and that I would be placed in another hotel. So I got transferred to the hyde park international, which like so many London hotels had a nice entrance but such small rooms. Because I need to prepare for meetings, having a desk and some space is a underrated value add. My room had a desk, but couldn't fit a chair because is was so very very small. Also the aircon was faulty so had to keep the window open, with the added 'benefit' of noise from the street. For anybody travelling for work to London. advised to stay away from the Shaftesbury chain (this is not the first time I've encountered this problem with Shaftesbury).

Our double room wasn't available upon our midnight arrival, so we had two single rooms the first night. In a generous gesture on the hotel's part, we received a (hearty) complimentary breakfast every morning. The location is fantastic, the rooms clean, the beds firm, and the building gorgeously refurbished on the ground floor. The only negative is that the rooms are so small that it's difficult for two people to move around at once in a double room. I know that's typical for London hotels, but I was a little surprised this qualifies as a "four-star" hotel.

The room was a little small and didn't have the greatest amenities, but who's in a room when you're visiting London? Great location, very close to public transport.

British hotels aren't known for their size, but when you're away on holiday you don't really want to spend your time in a hotel when you have a wonderful city to explore. Within close walking distance to two Underground stations and a bus stop, accessibility to the city is very high. Some nice places to eat nearby, too. Great value for money.

The hotel looked promising, with beautiful woodwork in the lobby and a spectacular location, but some key things fell a bit short. All in all it was an average stay, but I would look for a better hotel the next time around. The room was clean and cozy. Nice after a long flight. Our room looked out into an alley, but that didn't bother us. The hotel bar was downright bad.

During Edwardian times, Lillie Langtry, mistress of King Edward VII, frequently performed in the in-house theatre of this historic hotel. That theatre is now a bar, and the other public rooms of this hotel are all beautifully restored to their 19th century appearance. The rooms are modern and well-appointed, and clean and comfortable. I stayed in a Deluxe Double on the fifth floor and it was no smaller than any American hotel of the same value. It even had a terrace! The hotel is located across the street from Kensington Gardens, and just moments from both the Queensway and Bayswater tube stations, as well as the restaurants and shops on Queensway. It is also a 5 minute walk to Kensington Palace and a 15 minute walk to the Portobello Road Market. Paddington Station is nearby, where you can easily reach Heathrow within minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Grand Royale Hyde Park and loved its old world feel.

The hotel was fine; good location, close to two tube stations/lines, close to Hyde Park. The room was tiny but otherwise a very nice experience.

GREAT LOCATION, SUPERB REGAL HOTEL, THE LOBBY IS SOMETHING OUT OF THE PAST AND ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. A DRINK IN THE BAR IS PRICELESS AS THE CEILING IS A MASTERPIECE. WOULD DEFINITELY RECOMMEND. OUR ROOM WAS PERFECT.

Good hotel at great prices ( sub £80) , friendly staff and reasonable size rooms (for London) , well kitted out. I stay in London each week and this is the hotel I check availability on first.

The first time I stayed here I used the free wifi to book the hotel for the following week. Rooms aren't huge but clean and well appointed. Staff friendly and very helpful. Loads of restaurants , shops, cinema , tube and Hyde park - all within 500m. As a regular hotel user ( every week in London ) this is the best value I've found and beats hotels more that twice the price. Will book again and again whilst rates are competitive

The room and the bath room are so small that you cannot move inside. The fridge is empty and the corridor to the rooms is so narrow that two persons cannot walk together.

A beautiful, grand period reception with chesterfields sharing the hall with ornate ceilings and classic oak finishes. The room was small but intelligently arranged with modern furnishings, a very comfortable bed, good TV and a clean well lit en-suite. The free wifi was fast for a hotel > 5Mbs and the breakfast was good value. We visited on the Notting Hill Festival but the room was resilient in keeping the vuvuzelas and whistles from interrupting our sleep.

Room very small, but that is ok for the price, but TV not working, telephone neither. Avoid room 008, downstairs directly in front of the window is where they dump the garbage of the hotel. No fun !!

Rooms clean, smart, but cramped. Lots of edging past the bed! Plenty of character and good location. Being renovated at the time I stayed there - will be a great hotel when complete; but rather a work site now.

Hotel room was small but well appointed with a pleasant bathroom. The breakfast was excellent. Location is not great, there are very few restaurants nearby and the hotel does not serve dinner. The metro is 500 meters away and bus service is excellent too. No major attractions are easy walking distance.

hotel has just been refurbished and the upper 3 floors were opened the day we stayed. there were a few problems with the doors and check-in but I'm confident these will be resolved quickly. The room was modern and nicely furnished but VERY small. All in all we enjoyed our stay.
