The Hyatt is a wonderful hotel, with an excellent and helpful staff. The food at the restaurants is very good, the rooms were nice size, clean and comfortable. Because of noise and a defective shower we had to move twice and there was no wi-fi in the rooms which made it very inconvenient to get emails done. The beach is nice but not great, however if you surf the break at the hotel, Shipwrecks, is fun an uncrowded.

We spent a week at the Hyatt in January 2012, and it was the best week I can remember in a LONG time. The resport was peaceful, clean, romantic, fun, relaxing and so beautiful I can't even describe it. There were moments that I just wanted to sit and take it all in because it was so beautiful. The whole area is amazing. I highly recommend it to anyone - familes, couples, business or just a get-away for no reason. You won't be let down.

We spent the first week of the new year in Kauai. Highly recommend the hotel. The property is located in the heart of Poipu, which is the one of the two locations you want to stay at in Kauai if you're looking for luxury and comfort, the other being Princeville. The staff is extremely friendly, courteous and helpful. Highly recommend Dondero's, which is the on-site Italian restaurant. In order to save money, we recommend not using the concierge who have been outsourced and tack on a few dollars per person for every activity. Get the list of activities from them and book yourselves. The actual list of activities provided by the concierge is excellent.

If you are planning on Kauai for your honeymoon, this is the place to go! incredible, friendly staff greet you when you get there, and they have a lot of perks for newlywed couples. Hotel is quite impressive with an enormous pool containing a waterslide and several waterfalls. Several hottubs, hammocks, and swings throughout the resort. HUGE spa area with tons of amenities. Large saltwater lagoon there too. Nice restaurants and bars are present on the resort as well. There are tons of activities to do in Kauai, but you could actually get away with staying only on the resort a week and still have a great time. No regrets about staying here, and I will definitely stay here again!

I was impressed from the moment we drove up. The lobby itself is quite something to experience with its vaulted ceilings and beautiful woodwork. The location offers spectacular views and easy walking access to a coastline hike to a rather seculded and beautiful beach. The beach in front of the hotel itself is nice enough, but not the nicest on the island by any stretch. The pools are incredible, especially the lagoon which has its own sandy beach and shallows. Lots of parking available that is included in the resort fee. We had a garden view room and loved the view. We had breakfast on our balcony each morning and found it a perfect way to start the day. Would come here again no questions.

We really enjoyed the lovely grounds of the Grand Hyatt property -- flowers, bushes, trees, birds, pools -- all beautifully landscaped. We enjoyed strolling through the property but would have preferred more lighting at night in order to be able to go for an after-dinner walk. Good breakfast selection at the Terrace buffet. Tidepools provided nice surroundings for dinner, but the food was mediocre. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant. Customer service at the hotel was great -- we received a gift at the end of our stay as a way of apologizing for not being able to entirely meet our room request. They did upgrade us, however, and we did enjoy a room with a better view than originally booked.

In the Poipu area, with the best weather in the spring, fall and winter on rainy Kauai. Outstanding hotel architecture, location & facilities. River pools, waterfalls, protected lagoon especially attractive, especially for kids. However, there is an adult only pool, a policy that is enforced, which makes it ideal for us adults. Dondero's restaurant provided the best two dinners of our week stay in the area, Tidepool restaurant good for seafood. Delightful week on this, our 5TH stay at this hotel. AMG

Just came back from this trip and it was wonderful. The saltwater lagoon was very nice and this property has enough going on that you'll never feel bored. The resort is just a stone throw away from a really nice beach where the surfers ride, daredevil cliff jumpers risk their lives, and the turtles pop their heads in & out of the water to say "hi". We felt extra special from the moment we checked in til the moment we sadly said "goodbye". The hotel staff even let us borrow a "hospitality room" several hours after we checked out so we can clean up before our flight. The resort is in a location that is relatively close to the airport and near a lot of popular excursion meeting points. Only thing that bothered us during our trip was that they were still remodeling their spa, which was a real bummer. Oh, and their room service staff gave us fruit that was not ripe and difficult to cut. Most of their hotel staff is extremely nice, but once in a while you do get a few sour faces who look like they no longer enjoy what they do for a living. The Thanksgiving Luau was a bit on the overpriced and cheesy side, but I guess its something you need to try at least once if you're in Hawaii. If you're celebrating your honeymoon here, tell the concierge ahead of time and they'll put in a little effort to make your stay here more special: one free dessert at their restaurant, a bottle of champagne delivered to your room, one rental of their private cabana, and a couple of coupons for the spa and boutique shops. We stopped by comparable resorts like the St Regis (small, overprice &, from what we heard, the guests are kinda snobby) and the Ko'a Kea (even smaller, but newer, boutique resort with one AMAZING restaurant called Red Salt). Overall, we are glad we went with Hyatt and hope we will be coming back to relive these memories.

The resort itself is very nice although it is very large and the winding paths make it tedious to get from one place to another. Their pools and lagoon are very unique and create a good ambiance. This is good since their beach is something left wanting. Its not a private beach and their are a lot of rocks that make it a dangerous place for kids. The rooms were very disappointing considering the cost. There is no bath tub and no microwave. The room itself was so average that you feel cheated by the price paid. Nevermind the resort amenities. The price you pay for the room booked is not what you can expect to pay. The charge you at checkout for an assortment of rediculous fees added onto your bill for everything. They don't say hi to you without charging you for it. Also, they add their own gratuity onto everything as if you are going to stiff them. Reguardless of whether it was earned or not. I don't recommend this resort at all!!

We had a great time at the Grand Hyatt Kauai. The dinner at Tide pool was perfect and good value comper to other places on Kauai. The kids loved both the pool area and the beach.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The pool was lovely and comfortable. Lots of shade if you want, or sun if you would rather have that. Plenty of places to go and have any experience you want! The whole place is tranquil and gorgeous, romantic and relaxing, the gardens are outstanding. The staff could not be better. I noticed it right as we checked and it lasted the entire week we were there. Lots of restaurants at all price points to choose from. We can not wait to go back!

This Grand Hyatt is a very nice property. The staff were all extremely helpful and very nice. The grounds are beautiful and well-maintained. The pools are very nice and fun to play in. The room is nice. Nothing spectacular, but definitely comfortable. The only criticism is that it could have been cleaned better. I found hair all over the bathroom counters which was kind of disgusting considering the caliber of this hotel. It was also dusty in places. While the resort fee of $25 was very well advertised before and during the stay, I still feel this is somewhat of a "money grab" by the property.

It was Great Beautiful a trip of a lifetime! You didnt even have to leave the hotel because EVERYTHING was there!!!!! I Lost my jewelery (well I left it in my room) and when we called them 4 days later we found out that housekeeping found it in our room the day we checked out and turned it into security and then in turn shipped it to my home in Texas at there own expence. How professional is that. We could not have wished for a better outcome. We WILL visit this resort again soon. This gesture of honesty made our honeymoon complete. (My husband said thank you for saving his BUTT!!!)

Beautiful hotel, very nice ocean view room. Service was good, my wife enjoyed the spa. Food was ok to good, but nothing knocked my socks off. Do breakfast at the Poipu Bay Golf Course, much better than hotel restaurants. Stevenson's Library Bar had good sushi and hand rolls.

We had a great experience at the Grand Hyatt. Initially we were given a room that smelled like a Las Vegas Casino. We called the front desk to inquire if we had been given a smoking room by mistake. After being told that the Grand Hyatt is a non-smoking resort, we were switched immediately to a new room. The pool was awesome and our kids loved it. We also had a great experience trying out scuba diving. Our five year old didn't want to stop! Our only complaint is the "resort fee" charged by hotels like this. We don't mind paying it but would have liked to know just what it covered so we could have used it a bit better.

This hotel is truly wonderful. From the moment you enter the lobby you appreciate how the hotel has a seamless flow from the outside to the inside. The pools are the best that I have ever seen. In addition, there is a man made lagoon for those of you that want to feel like you are swimming in the ocean but not be concerned with the safety of swimming in the open waters. Especially cool was the water seemed to have a high salt water content so it was very easy to float around all day. I recommend swimming in the lagoon at night. You can see the moon, the tiki torches are lit and reflect on the lagoon, the wind blows through the palm trees etc - wow! Also, try getting up one day early and go for a swim in the lagoon. I have a high stress job and there is nothing more relaxing than this experience. Every place at this hotel and my wife and I were able to find a spot that made it feel like our special private get away. The rooms are good but not great (I have high standards but expected more for the money). With that said, it did not matter as this hotel is ranked as my favorite hotel that I have ever been to.
