Grand Hotel Rica

Booked a queen room with sofa so had a Large cornerish room with loads of space. Also had a coffee machine. Room was spotles, very luxurious with robe, slippers, cushions etc. Bed super comfy, choice of pillows if desired. Only there overnight so didn't use any facilities or even have time for breakfast which was included in our room price.staff were extremely friendly & helpful.we were more than happy with our room & it was reasonably close to centre of things.

A grand-old style-hotel (1880s flavour), very pleasant and bang in the middle of town close to the metro (which you can occasionally hear briefly rumbling in the depths). Staff is very friendly and helpful the breakfast excellent with a distinct Scandiniavian touch (e.g. orange raspberry-looking fruit called cloud-berry).

A beautiful grand old hotel right in the centre of the city, the perfect location for everything! Staff were well informed, polite, helpful and friendly. Rooms were a good size, with all amenities, including wireless internet in the rooms and a bathtub in the bathroom. Very good value for money. Minibar was slightly pricey, but much less than other 5-star hotels, and considering the price of drinks in Scandinavia, was fair enough. Beautiful decor and paintings round the old building, and the Skylight bar was nice for an evening, and overall it was a very pleasant stay. Tea and coffee in the rooms would have been a nice extra but that is only a minor thing, it's not like there is a lack of coffee houses near the hotel. Breakfast buffet was superb, and on Sunday was moved to a larger room to accommodate all the selections. I have stayed in a lot of 5 star hotels, but this one I would recommend and would use again.

Hotel is beautiful downstairs but rooms very tired and need renovation. Air conditioning doesn't work, which makes life uncomfortable. Grand Cafe is excellent.

The Grand is possibly the best located hotel in Oslo - fronting onto Karl Johan's Gate opposite the Norweigan Parliament and just a short walk along the road from the royal palace, Oslo central station and the national theatre. The refurbished rooms within the hotel are decorated to a high standard and are very comfortable. The rooms that have yet to be refurbished are not nearly so nice - dull wall colourings giving the impression that the room is not clean when this is, in fact, not the case. These rooms were also previously smoking rooms and although smoking in the hotel is no longer allowed, the rooms still smell of stale tobacco. Breakfast at the hotel is excellent and the breakfast room is large enough to simultaneously cater for any tour parties that may be staying at the hotel, business guests and private parties. An impresive feat. The bar at the top of the hotel overlooking Oslo is a great place to finish the day.

Fantastic hotel... the restaurant food was amazing (the julius restaurant) well worth paying for. Norway generally expensive but a definite experience and worth every penny!

The is an old traditional hotel, so the rooms although clean are old, but comfortable. The best thing this hotel has going for it is its proximity to all major attractions, restaurants, bars, clubs and shopping. Late checkout times, friendly English speaking staff, airport bus less than 2mins walk from the Hotel.
