Grand City Hotel Berlin East

Staff were helpful and knowledgeable. Will print a google map to show you how to get to places. Room was spacious but floor not always vacuum-cleaned (stayed there 9 nights). Transportation convenient but far if you want to go to west Berlin(one hour). Breakfast was good with healthy varieties.

The hotel was excellent but the following advice might be helpful: 1. If you like firm pillows, bring your own; the hotel pillows are like beanbags. 2. the fitness studio is free and you can get the key from reception however there are no dumbbells, barbells, etc. 3. The UK guidebooks we had were useless for public transport systems--just ask reception for a proper map. The tram stop to Alexanderplatz is Hohenschönhauser Str./Weißenseer Weg which is just north of the hotel along Weißenseer Weg. Take an M5 or M6.

The hotel was good, the staff knowledgeable and friendly. it would be good to include the distance from Alexander Platz to the hotel and list the tram stations.

At the price we stayed here, it was excellent value for money. The rooms were wide and very clean. The setup was new. The location is a bit away from center, but still very accessible with trams. I would recommend it.

Do ask for a fan if it is hot outside! Our room had no air conditioning, and we had to spend one night baking on around +30, fortunately the fan resolved the question afterwards. The hotel is located on a rather quiet residential area, so not much noise around, and supermarkets are close, if needed. Good value for money, even more when we had a real bathtub, that was perfect to relax after walking hours across Berlin!

The Grand City Hotel is a decent option if you are looking for basic accommodation while visiting Berlin. It is not very "close to Alexanderplatz," however, being a 10-15 minute tram and 5 minute walk from the Alexanderplatz U/S-Bahn station. The room was basic but clean (be aware that there is no air conditioning) and the staff was friendly (the front desk is handled by the adjacent Holiday Inn staff).

NO breakfast included in price (£29.46 A NIGHT). Very large hotel. I was in Tower/Haus NUmber 3. Very very noisy hotel, no soundproofing between rooms or floors. Terrible night's sleep over two nights. Location could have been better - a change is required on the tram/bus in order to get to the center, no where near a U-bahn. Car parking was good. Shame really as the room was big and the hotel looked good, it was just too noisy. I would not stay here ever again.

It was a nice hotel, a bit far from the center but the public transport is excellent. Nice rooms, clean bathroom.
