Good value and convenient location. Very fast (and free) internet access.

Gloria Prince Hotel Taipei

Clean, comfortable and quiet. The rooms look new and recently renovated. This hotel was very convenient to night life and shopping. Surrounding area includes a wide selection of food carts (worth trying for adventurous westerners) and street vendors to Mitsukoshi and McDonalds- (shame on you). Hotel house staff was helpful and friendly. Breakfast buffet is a bit pricey, 517 NT$. The cash desk could not exchange Canadian currency to NT$, but there was a ICBC branch not too far away that offered better rates than any hotel could. Considering the town, the Gloria represents good value. I would stay there again.

This is my third stay at this hotel this year. The internet rate is excellent and the hotel is located only blocks from several 5 star hotels, ( The Formosa Regent, which has several great restaurants, The Nikko Hotel, & The Ambassador. It is a good business hotel that caters mostly to Japanese. so there is limited english spoken but the front desk was helpful.

It is very easy to get to the Hotel by taking the bus at the airport. It only cost about $3.50 US. Take the west line they have a stand at the airport.

Internet service is avaiable in each room or you can you use the computers in the business centre on the 4 th floor. Or there is an internet cafe across the street on the second floor. with a route map in English. Make sure you watch for your stop as the drivers speak little if no Eglish , Get off at the Ambassador Hotel and its a one block walk.

Nicely appointed with splendid down pillows and comforter, but the bed is rock-hard. Request two extra pillows and make a mini-mattress. Bathroom fixtures are magnificent. Hotel food is awful. We had breakfast and dinner there and both were terrible. Nice gym, but not free for guests. And neither is Internet access. Two dollar local phone calls from your room. HBO and CNN. We thought it a good bargain at the Internet price.

Attractive hotel in a central location 2 blocks from the MRT (the subway). Well staffed, helpful and professional. Quiet comfortable room. We were were there on vacation for 8 nights and did not get that closed in feeling one sometimes gets staying in a hotel. Good restaurants, tried one and had delicious dim sum. The health club looked very nice, did not have time to use. Would recommend, especilly at the Asia Hotels internet prepaid price which was a bargain for a hotel of this category.

Very good location. About a 5-10 minute walk to the subway. Modern hotel visited frequently by Japanese with plenty of ammenities, but does not have a full Japanese Spa/Bath facility. English spoken. The Conceriege desk is not available as often as one might like, but staff is helpful when needed. Beautiful art in the hallways.

The staff are impeccable, kind and try to be of help whenever you need. The location of the hotel was to my advantage as it was not too far from where I was working. However, the surrounding areas are not that upscale -- as evidenced by one of the signs in red and white neon that shouted ``The Angel's Pleasure''. The hotel is filled with Japanese tourists and businessmen -- There was no doubt as to who which nationality the majority of the guests were as many of the staff spoke fairly fluent Japanese. The staff also offers to write down destinations and phrases for you in Chinese characters so you can simply show it to the taxi driver or a passerby for help.

A good hotel, well presented and in a good location. I will definitely stay there again during my next visit to Taipei. The staff were friendly and helpful...always a good start. The room rate was also attractive.

The Gloria (no longer Le Meridian) is a typical international 4 star hotel located well in downtown Taipai. The rooms are small but have all amenities (including coffee service and mini-bar) and are adequate. Staff is attentive and pleasant, but lobby seating minimal. The hotel is nice and quiet. At almost $100 double/per night w/o breakfast, the Gloria is a normal value in generally expensive Taipai. There are much cheaper ways to get a night''s sleep but at the 4 star level, the Gloria is pretty much average cost. Note - the restaurant is expensive (relatively).

The refurbished rooms are modern, stylish and functional. The room I was allocated was tiny by any standards and the bed was unusually firm. The staff were courteous and helpful.

Simply, as good as you''ll get in Taipei for the money spent. The location is excellent.

Nice, clean hotel with decent fitness center. Plenty of restaurants and stores in the area and a fairly cheap taxi ride to most parts of the city. A very good rate for such a nice hotel. Rooms quite large, but a little noisy (even though I was on one of the highest level floors).
