The worst thing you can forget to pack for your trip to Bremen, Germany, is your camera. From the medieval architecture in the centre of town to the surrounding green countryside, Bremenis sure to take your breath away. The first landmark you must visit in Bremen is the glorious Town Hall. This celebrated historical building was erected in 1410 and is lauded as one of the finest pieces of architecture in Europe. Next door is the famous statue of the Town Musicians of Bremen,who were fictional characters from one of the famous Brothers Grimm tales. Another impressive historical structure is St. Peter's Cathedral, which is more than 1,200 years old. From there you will want to stroll down Böttcherstrasse,an art nouveau-era street lined with breathtaking courtyards and ornate architectural facades as well as several museums and landmarks like the Glockenspiel. Bremen’s historical square also has a statue of the immortal Knight Roland, Europe’s ‘protector of trade’. After sightseeing in Bremen, you can immerse yourself in its wonderful culture. Enjoy some rich, strong German coffee and Kluten (chocolate peppermints) or one of the perfectly balanced domestic wines.
When To Go
Bremenhas four distinct seasons with tolerable temperatures year-round. The summers and winters are not extreme, and the spring and fall months are very pleasant. The warmest months are usually July and August, but it is balmy and comfortable from May through September. Bremendoes not typically have freezing temperatures, even during the coldest winter months. Many people are comfortable visiting in the winter, but you will need a coat, hat and gloves if you visit Bremen after October. Any given month will have nine to 12 days of rain, with roughly 2-2.5 cm (1 inch) of accumulation each month on average. The spring months are a bit drier, but pack an umbrella or raincoat no matter when you go.

Getting There
You can fly into Bremenairport from most major German cities and be downtown within minutes by car, taxi or the convenient tram line. There is bus service from Groningen to Bremen’s central bus station as well. Right next door to the bus station isBremen’s train station, which offers service to cities all over the country. While train tickets are more expensive than bus fares for individuals, German rail lines offer group tickets that are quite economical. This is an excellent option if you are taking a family holiday, and solo travellers can find people to share group tickets on certain websites. You can also drive toBremen using Autobahn1 or A27. Car-sharing is a cheap way to travel long-distance in Germany, and it is good for the environment.
