The location was okie. It was near the new Gurney Plaza. However, while I understand why the hotel did not stock up the mini bar (may be there are people who took without paying), there is no reason why the hotel did not stock up hand towels.

Although I booked a standard non-smoking room, I was given a newly renovated suite. It was a bit oversized for me, but everything is clean, and there is no smoke contamination. However, because I booked on the internet, there were no complimentary breakfast and internet service provided. It was in a convenient location, with a hospital across the street, and nearby shopping malls within 10-15 minutes of walking.

From check in it was slow as we have to wait for the room to be cleaned. The previous occupier vacated late and not on scheduled time as stipulated according to the Reception staff. I have voiced my concerns to the Manager on duty about my valuation of the Hotel and have also submitted the Hotel evaluation card. The bathroom was a bit mouldy and the airconditioner isn't cold at all. The carpet needs vacuuming and looks very dirty when we first entered the room. Not enough creamer when there are 2 sachets each of coffee and tea bags! Lots of sugar!! We have stayed at the Berjaya Hotel in Pulau Langkawi and find the experience there so much better. Staff at the Cafe should be more aware of customer service and not left waiting for 30mins for the freid eggs and not following first come first being served manner. Good customer service is paramount.

The cost of breakfast quoted is applicable only if you are a member of their Berjaya group. If not you pay twice the amount. This should have been stated upfront. Poor variety of breakfast. Also the location of the hotel isn't exactly close to the major shops or streets. We always had to take a cab/bus out.

Room is spacious but breakfast is limited. Family stayed 2 nite but came back with rashes and suspected itchness on the head. Maybe cleanliness and sunning the pillow need to be done.

Toilet flush is not working well. Room is very dusty. Hotel Location is not near to town. Complimentary breakfast is okay. One of the worst 4stars Hotel I have ever stayed.

Very good, friendly and warm service provided by all personnel... from the reception to the concierge to the waiters/waitresses. Thumbs up indeed... certainly value for money.... The hotel has indeed made my stay in Penang an enjoyable one....

Poor location; far from city center. You need to take bus (which are filled w/ people). Rooms are old and worn, stains on carpet etc. Breakfast is OK. Certainly not a 4 star hotel!

It was the 4th day of Chinese New Year when we check in and waited for about 40mins before we finally got a room. We were also disappointed that the TV did not have any sports channel and happened there's a big match early next morning. Its an average hotel which needs a bit of refurbishing.

The staff members I encountered were efficient and friendly. Rooms are spacious and well-kept. However, certain rooms do not command very good views of Penang. Room amenities and hotel facilities are aplenty and well-maintained. Buffet breakfast had a wide spread of local and international food. Location of hotel is not too bad but the taxi ride into the "old town" is a little expensive. Overall, I would recommend this hotel to all travellers, especially those travelling as a family.

Disappointed in the choice of tv channels. Also disappointed that nearly all requests were only actioned after 3 or 4 phone calls and a long wait.

Ok, over-rated, this is definitely not a 4-star hotel. Lousy service, the people there do not know whats going on, checkin takes more than 40mins due to the error that the customer service officer made, seems like she does not understands english well. Booked 2 rooms, she only gave me keys to 1 and loads of other mistakes. Facility wise, below average, there are no slippers or bath robe provided, 4-star hotels do provide these. There are shoeprints on the bedsheets and after cleaning room, print remains, clearly it is not changed. Breakfast provided is crap.. Food provided is very lousy. When leaving, called to check the phone number for Penang airport, keeps giving the wrong contact number, when another person answered, he told me "sorry, we do not have the phone number to Penang airport".. Call yourself a hotel, what a joke. Conclusion, this is the worst hotel I have visited so far, and will pass this info to all my friends and colleagues.

Reasonable hotel for the price. Walking distance to Gurney Drive and Gurny Plaza shopping centre. Bus stop and taxi stand at the front of the hotel.

Great! Wonderful bed (the most important feature!) and separate "living room" and bedroom areas. We stayed on the 22nd floor (I don''t like to stay that high, but...). Lovely 8th floor swimming pool!

Hotel is on a main street (Jalan Burmah) but "at-the-end" (too far to walk to downtown Georgetown). This wasn''t a problem once we discovered the bus in front of the Post Office a block away (fare 80 sen, about 25 cents) that took us right to KOMTAR Center.
